Welcome to the official 1999 USA Schutzhund 3 Nationals and International Police Dog Championship
web site and online coverage! This year's thrilling national Schutzhund and Police Dog competition
was hosted by the Northwestern Region and its member clubs. Reno, Nevada showcased the best of the working German Shepherd
Dog and other working breeds in sport and career service. Seasoned national competition
veterans came together with first-time championship competitors in the thrilling Schutzhund 3 triathlon of
tracking, obedience, and protection and the demanding precision of the working Police Dog competitive trial.
From November 3 through November 7, 1999, Moana Stadium was the site of some of the most intense canine
action ever seen in this country. From the expert training offered at our National Helper
Seminar on Wednesday to the edge-of-your-seat drama of final SchH3 protection competition
on Sunday, we offered something for everyone at this long-awaited event.
We congratulate the many remarkable handler/dog teams who worked for years to successfully achieve the
elusive dream of competing at a national level, and we were excited to once again see our sport and police K9
friends from around the country. Please join us in this tribute to the working German
Shepherd Dog in America and celebrate the extraordinary utility of this one-of-a-kind breed competing at the
1999 Schutzhund 3 Championship and International Police Dog Championships.
