Germany is in the process of enacting specific legislation in an attempt to ban what they have labeled as "all fighting dogs." This list now includes, but is not limited to, American Staffordshire Terriers, Pitbulls and Staffordshire Bull Terriers or cross-breeds containing these mixes. As a member of the European Union, Germany may take a leadership role in extending these laws to other European Nations. There have been two maulings of small children within the last few weeks in Germany and both resulted in the death of the child by a "fighting" breed. Perhaps we can help prevent the prejudice against all dogs of one breed from spreading across the ocean. Dogs can only be as good those responsible for their breeding and training. Therefore the owners should be held responsible, and not ban entire breeds of dogs. We are asking you to sign a petition requesting that these government officials appropriately sanction and punish the PEOPLE responsible. Banning specific dog breeds is NOT the solution to the problem of dogs attacking people.
Perhaps you own a German Shepherd Dog or a Malinois, maybe it's a poodle. Please, do not turn your back. Breed specific legislation is prejudice against creatures who cannot fight back. Remember - - your breed could be next. Please help us make the voice of World Wide dog lovers heard across the ocean.
You may also write to individual consulates of the German government for your state. The list is provided below. Americans and others can also show muscle by economic boycott.
