The Scosche DIYBRH2 Bluetooth Car Kit allows you to answer cell phone calls and play music wirelessly in non-Bluetooth equipped vehicles through your vehicle's audio speakers. The DIYBRH2 features a 12-volt cigarette lighter adapter/Bluetooth receiver with integrated microphone and DSP Echo Cancellation for crystal clear cell phone communication The cigarette lighter adapter/Bluetooth receiver plugs into the 12V port or cigarette lighter port of your vehicle and the unit's attached 47" minijack cord plugs into your vehicle's factory or aftermarket headunit that features a 3.5mm audio aux-in jack. These connections allow the input from any Bluetooth enabled device to play through your car speakers. The cigarette lighter adapter/Bluetooth receiver can be used in conjunction with Scosche's Bluetooth transmitters for connecting your portable audio player so it can transmit audio wirelessly through your car's stereo system.
Note: For headunits that feature a stereo RCA auxiliary input, you will need a 3.5mm female minijack to stereo RCA male adapter.
Bluetooth Compatibility: This unit is Bluetooth version 1.2 compliant and supports Bluetooth A2DP (Advance Audio Distribution) and HFP (Hands-Free) profiles with a wireless operating range of up to 30 feet through a 2.4Ghz frequency. The DIYBRH2 cigarette lighter adapter/Bluetooth receiver is compatible with Bluetooth enabled cell phones for hands-free communication and when used with a compatible Bluetooth audio transmitter, can connect to your portable MP3 Player and stream its audio to your indash headunit. The DIYBRH2 will connect to any aftermarket or factory headunit with a 3.5mm auxiliary input or a stereo RCA auxiliary input using an optional minijack to RCA adapter.

I saw this yesterday at Best Buy for $39. Picked it up for my Palm pre. WOW talk about poor quality. The unit itself is made from very thin plastic and creaks and cracks when inserted into the power adapter. Paired it up with my Palm Pre. Turned on my audio, and heard a very annoying ticking from speakers. Hopped the ticking would go away when palm was playing audio. Unfortunately not so, I get music and ticking. Every time I turn off my car (and power is cut to accessory jack) I have to re-pair my Palm Pre with this device. The idea was so I don't have to do anything when I get in and out of the car. Would rather skip the ticking, and re-pairing, and just plug the audio cord into my Pre. This is going back to Best Buy today.

I bought this item from Best Buy last week and after 3 days returned it. I took a chance in buying it since I could not find one single review online from any other buyers. Well, I took a risk & got burned. In my opinion, this item is NOT hands free. It does not 'automatically' reconnect with your phone every time you get in the car. This item worked fine the first day after I paired it, I was able to receive calls and hear pretty clearly (there was some mild hissing noise in the background). The problem is, every time I got back into the car on subsequent days, this item did not reconnect to my phone. I had to go into the options of my phone and direct my phone to reconnect with the Scosche, to me that is the "opposite" of hands free. I have used my phone with other Bluetooth devices and they were always connected (which is how it should be with Bluetooth, so I'm sure it was 'not' my phone, it was a problem with the Scosche). Also, you cannot place calls with the Scosche even if you have voice on your phone, I tried and it did not work. Listen, the only thing this gadget has going for it is that it goes thru the auxiliary input in the car, which is why I bought it, but that's it, so unless your prepared to manually connect it to your phone each time you turn your car on, forget about the Scosche!!!
