I love Cirago! December 6, 2009 Sonya L. Mcneil I was unsure about this product because it was a brand I had never used before. I am very pleased!! The installation was seamless to Vista.
Great...but we have to wait!!! October 8, 2009 D. M. Wilson (Kansas City, MO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Cirago CST4500 500 GB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive is great thus far. It was already pre-formatted in the correct format that I needed (as I was planning to use this as extra storage for my PS3). I was able to transfer about 60GB of info from my laptop to free up space and another 35GB+ from my PS3 without an issue. As you all should know by now. That is only half the battle. Now, I am in the waiting phase to see if it holds up. I have seen many externals that corrupt or just fail after months or even years. So, for now, the waiting has begun.
Not realiable September 16, 2009 pnrinsf (SF Bay Area, California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought the 1TB Cirago hard drive. It was working perfectly well for about a year and then it suddenly stopped working. The computer still detects it up to this date but when we tried to access the files, they could not be displayed anymore as if the files were missing and non-existent. Even when we check the "Properties" of the drive, it cannot be read anymore.
One would think that since it worked perfectly fine for a year, it would be reliable, hence, we used it and saved 120GB worth of important files, pictures etc. and then it crashed. I cannot speak for other people's experience but just sharing our personal experience with the product, after a year of use. I did have another back-up but not all files were retrieved since we used the Cirago hard drive as our main back-up. I would not recommend this product at all due to our experience.
nice flexible drive, cool too August 24, 2009 Raymond L. Heinrich (TX USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've had two of the 500's since about May 09,
and I've had one of their 320's for quite a
while. My new 500's have 7200 rpm Western
Digital SATA drives. I can barely get the
bare drives for less than these cost and when
you add in the case and power supply... wow.
So you can rig them as external SATA drives
for your DVR (need a SATA cable and be willing
to cut up the case a tiny bit) or take the drive
out when your computer landscape changes and
put it in your old desktop... Anyway, I use one
as a common ole USB2 backup drive and it's still
running just fine. USB drive's aren't real fast,
but this one's faster than most.
And oh, the heat thing: Despite what you hear
sometimes, aluminum cases (like this one has)
are the best (after a fan, of course).
But why does it seem otherwise in a lot of the
reviews you see? Well... the problem is that if
you feel an aluminum case and a plastic case
which are at the same temperature; the aluminum
case will always feel much hotter even while the
drive inside is cooler. That's because aluminum
is much better at conducting heat, and this
includes your hand!
This made me have a huge realization!!! August 21, 2009 Samuel Longhorn Clemens (Traverse City, MI) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this 750 GB hard drive for myself to backup all of my computer stuff. As I was transferring files, an epiphany hit me. The fact that I filled up a computer hard drive and now need to use an external one points out the fact that I have no life and spend way too much time on my computer. Thanks Cirago 750 GB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive CST4750!!!!!!!
