Amazon.com Product Description Outdoor speakers provide a valuable service, bringing your favorite tunes to the patio or backyard, but sometimes they just don't fit within a garden's design. Enter the Advent ADV-W801, which sports a green, dome-like housing that resembles a sprinkler head or other garden tool. The clever shape blends seamlessly amidst most plants and garden structures, letting you hide the weather-resistant speaker from view while still hearing it loud and clear. Just as convenient is the speaker's wireless transmitter, which sends a 900 MHz audio signal to the speaker through walls, floors, and ceiling at distances of up to 150 feet. Thanks to the cable-free design, it's easier than ever to install the speaker in almost any location. Listeners can even locate it indoors next to a potted plant. Audio-wise, the 20-watt speaker boasts a two-way acoustic suspension design with a 5-inch woofer and 1-inch dome tweeter. Should the speaker receive interference from other wireless signals, users can fiddle with the frequency adjustment knob until the static disappears. Additional features include an L/R/mono switch (the speaker can be used as either a single speaker in a stereo set or a mono speaker), an independent volume control, and battery operation using eight D-cell batteries. It also includes an AC adapter should you install it near an electrical outlet. What's in the Box Wireless speaker, transmitter, two AC adapters (for speaker and transmitter), user's manual.

| Customer Reviews: You Can Find Better February 3, 2010 Chuckles (Naperville, IL USA) I owned this product for 3 years before it failed. I am not happy that it's quality was this poor. The audio quality was decent but Advent's newer products sound much better. The reception on this product was very good. I used it on my deck which is about 40' from the transmitter. Unless you are buying this for $20 or less, I wouldn't purchase it.
works October 23, 2008 Scott R. Bader Now that we have ipods with a portable stereo we don't really need this but still use hooked up to our stereo. We have left it outside now for 2 years (winter excluded) and it still works great.
Could be worse May 26, 2006 Mr. G (Raleigh, NC) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I bought one of these a few years ago -- not from Amazon. Most of the time it collects dust in the corner, but occasionally I remember to bring it outside for a party or while doing yard work and it works as advertised. You have to fine-tune it to work on the proper frequency -- and the interface is not intuitive (one can easily change the frequency and terminate the reception while trying to adjust the volume) -- but it saved me from buying a full set of outdoor speakers. Not a glowing review, to be sure, but it's better than a one-star product.
Did not work October 11, 2005 S. Barcham (Connecticut, USA) 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
This product simply did not work. I returned it (no questions asked) and purchased a wireless speaker at Brookstone which although more expensive...$150...works very well.
Poor sound quality, like a bad cb June 17, 2005 disappointed 25 out of 27 found this review helpful
(did not purchase from amazon.com)Bought as a father's day gift, very disappointing. Brand new item. easy hook up. takes batteries or included a/c jack. reception quality horrible even from 30 feet away in house (2walls) outdoors even worse. technology is not here yet for wireless frequencies. hardwiring the best sound still, looking into weather proof wiring.
