Very disappointed July 29, 2010 Lady Hecate (Millersville, Maryland United States) I had read some of the reviews before I bought this book. However, since I loved Born of Night so much, I thought I would judge for myself. Sorry to say but I should had paid attention to the reviews. This book started out great. I had just got done reading a so so book and when I started reading Born of Ice with a great start to it I thought...it is good to read a well written book. Unfortunately, has some reviews so stated, one gets third of the way through the book and then it drags and drags and drags. A lot of unnecessary things were added...why I do not know. It was a big book.....about 540 pages.... but being a big book does not mean it is going to be good, and this is the case in this book. It was so boring, that I simply could not read the last 1/4 of it....not when I have other books sitting on the shelf waiting for me to read. I usually do not "cry uncle" but since this book was quite large, I just could not give it the time. I hate to say it but do not waste your money on this book. I definitely am not going to get the third book of this series. It is a shame.
Born of Fire June 26, 2010 M. Nix Bounty hunter Shahara Dagan is desperate. She needs the money that capturing the elusive and dangerous convict C.I. Syn will give her to pay off her sister's debts and medical bills. Shahara wasn't counting on Syn being so handsome or that he would be different from the ruthless rapist and murderer he's been portrayed as.
Syn is tired of being hunted for crimes he didn't commit. When the latest attempt on his life comes from his friend's sister, he has to figure out how to save himself from Shahara's blade and her brother's wrath. Turns out, his heart is in more danger than his body when it comes to Shahara though; she's exactly what he's always wanted, but never been able to have.
There is more to Syn than what Shahara first thought, and now they're on the run together. Neither trust easily, but in order to survive, they'll have to try. There are fates worse than death and they're about to find out what they are.
Born of Fire is the next exciting and action packed story set in the Ichidian Universe. Syn is superhuman. He can take more physical and emotional pain than any mere mortal could. While he's trudging along in his lonely existence, Shahara is enduring the weight of the world on her shoulders. She's very strong emotionally and physically and yet, her vulnerability is obvious. She and Syn have a lot in common. They both have painful pasts and feel unworthy of finding happiness, aong with being very jaded. Issues of trust and feelings of abandonment also play a role in how their personalities are molded. Throughout Born of Fire, Syn and Shahara survive one dangerous adventure after another. Each brings them closer to each other. Their desire and respect for each other grows, but their pasts always get in the way of any possible future together. While her heroes can be a bit predictable- yet still amazing- Kenyon always manages make their stories fresh and exciting and that's what keeps me coming back for more.

Born of Fire May 19, 2010 Not Telling This is my first Sherrilyn Kenyon book I've read and I liked it more than I thought I would. My one and probably only problem with it is that sometimes she went on for too long about things. Although I'm not usually into Sci-fi stuff, I liked this book because the sci-fi parts were not boring or too hard to follow. I really loved Shahara and Syn's relationship and the tension and the passion between them. Kenyon describes the feelings of the main characters in the book very well. It was easy to relate to both Syn and Shahara. Vic confused me though, because I had no idea what he was. He could transform and everything, but I didn't quite know how to picture him, but he was funny.
Syn gets sober in a flash April 28, 2010 Sports Scribe (Barbados) There's nothing like a woman to make a man sober! Yeah right, that only happens in movies and books. Sheridan from Born of Night, now the sinister Syn gets his own story.
We learn why he disappeared and what he was doing during that time.
As with all of these characters by Kenyon, there are hidden depths. Syn is a notorious thief on the run from the law, but the work that he has done to help others is amazing considering he is a man who has last all faith in humanity.
Like Nykyrian, Syn has been betrayed by his family and upbringing; but has to bear the scars of having a notorious father. He can't escape his past and it comes back to haunt him in the form of Shahara, who will do anything - well almost - to help her family.
She too has been though the fire and is wary of men, with good reason, but together, they manage to sort it all out.
Enjoyable April 23, 2010 P. Thompson (Houston, TX USA) This book is a science-fiction romance. If you prefer your futuristic reading sans-romance, you probably will not like this one.
I thought it was a good love story. Shahara is a bounty hunter and a Seax, sworn to uphold justice, who has always seen criminals through the charges being levied against them. She performs her duties without qualm as she feels she is helping society by ridding them of the bad elements. She struggles as her beliefs are challenged when she develops feelings for a "criminal" she is sworn to bring into custody.
I found this book a nice change of pace from my normal reading.
