Product Description This text offers the student a firm grounding in normal anatomy and physiology from an ultrasound perspective. After covering anatomy and physiology in the first half of each chapter, it then presents a wealth of ultrasound images to increase the reader's comfort with normal anatomy as it appears during scanning. Most images are accompanied by labeled drawings with detailed legends that explain what the reader is supposed to notice on the ultrasound scans. Instructor resources are available; please contact your Elsevier sales representative for details. * Detailed, labeled line drawings accompany most sonograms to provide reinforcement of what the student should notice on the scan. * 1,200 images spread over 528 pages ensure students gain a thorough, visual understanding of the field. * Introduction to Specialty Sonography section gives students an understanding of career options and an understanding of sonographers' work in those areas. * Abdominal aorta, inferior vena cava and portal venous systems chapters have been moved ahead of the abdominal organ chapters to reflect the order in which most instructors prefer to teach this material.

| Customer Reviews: It's OK but could have been much better September 1, 2009 Grampa Ocean This book covers a lot of material. It could have been great though with a few changes. Every diagram, sonogram, etc. should have been properly labeled and included the position of the transducer and notch location. This is supposed to be a beginning text. By properly labeling things the student can better learn how the image was made and then practice doing it in the lab. Instead, students are required to just memorize the diagrams. In addition there are some blatent mistakes in the text and discriptions of some of the images. This can be really confusing to new students. Text books need to be 100% correct. This is also an anthology with different chapters being written by different authors. This results in differences in writing styles and the depth of subjects being covered.
Great book! May 26, 2006 Reef bug (USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book is an awesome resourse for someone who is just begining to learn ultrasound and need an overview of how the normal structures look like. It is very simple, consize, and easy to understand. IMHO the best feature this book has is the drawing of the visualized structures clearly marked, conveniently located right next to the actual sonographic image for comparison.
The Right Order: Normal Anatomy First September 19, 2005 jan malin (San Francisco Bay, USA) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I believe a sound foundation in normal anatomy and physiology is the best course of study for the begininning sonography student. The textbook is clear, thorough and concise, and as a student who will be graduating next month, I highly recommend this book. I didn't find it until recently; I wish I had learned of this book earlier in my studies. Information on pathology would have been easier to absorb with a better foundation initially.
