5 out of 5 stars Private Practice Must Have!   February 15, 2007

This is an excellent book for newly certified IBCLC's, RN's looking to go into private practice, or anyone even considering entering the field of lactation science.
It is well written and very informative. I especially appreciate the advice on time management in the field vs. time with family...as well as pointers to facilitate the best care for the mother/baby dyad.

5 out of 5 stars Invaluable resource   February 25, 2006

This book is such an invaluable resource for anyone considering going into private practice LC work. Ms. Smith covers the good, the bad, and the ugly of the job, not to mention discussing ways of avoiding many potential pitfalls. Her style of writing is easy to follow and conversational, making it a pleasure to read. It's like having my own mentor sitting on the nightstand ready to help.
