Product Description Unique among all other lactation texts in its attention to the importance of appropriate, effective communication techniques, Counseling the Nursing Mother thoroughly covers how counseling styles and approaches can enhance interactions with mothers. The text presents topics within a counseling framework and includes practical suggestions for working with mothers. The reader will gain insights into applying knowledge and research into everyday practice, and how to meet counseling challenges. Essential for anyone preparing for certification as a lactation consultant, every chapter and each topic interweaves counseling technique with practical information.

| Customer Reviews: Very user friendly! October 13, 2008 ARoberts (Lincoln, NE United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This book is very easy to use. The format makes it simple to review and apply in practice. Very handy to have in your 'tool box'.
lots of great information October 2, 2008 an elf (VA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book was a wonderful compliment to the course I took. Keep in mind that it is a textbook though so perhaps too dense if you are only looking for light before bed reading.
Complete and rich! August 11, 2008 Priscila C. Albuque (São Paulo, SP Brasil) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Worth its weight in gold. Complete and rich of details. It is a fundamental text for those who already have a basis on lactation physiology and want to learn more about consultant profession. I don't give it five stars because it doesn't contain any special chapters on Brazil's situation on breastfeeding and laws about it.
Great Book May 23, 2007 K. Twite (San Francisco, CA) 18 out of 18 found this review helpful
WOW- This is a great book, beautiful cover, great info. A MUST HAVE for anyone working in Maternal/Child Health. Even after working with breastfeeding women for years, there's still so much more to learn, and this book really does cover IT ALL. It is also A MUST HAVE for anyone taking the IBCLC exam! Very helpful.
