Product Description
Now in its Third Edition, Step-Up is the most comprehensive systems-based review for the USMLE Step 1. The book has been widely acclaimed for its systems-based organization, which parallels the USMLE Step 1 content outline and helps students synthesize the information from their basic science courses. The popular, user-friendly format features numerous charts and diagrams and Quick Hits notes in the margins that help students integrate concepts across systems. For this edition, the author has added numerous clinical vignettes and new mnemonics to each chapter. Pharmacology has been further integrated into the systems-based format with new illustrations, tables, and references.

An okay book November 30, 2009 M. Hameer When I got this book while I was preparing for Step 1, I had high expectations. However, it turned out to be an average review book with lots of typos (albeit easily correctable), grossly lacking in 'Immunology' chapter, and not very useful for Step 1 preparation. The Step 1 exam is a highly conceptual, integrated case based exam, requiring the conceptual understanding and integration (rather than plain recollection) of facts. I would thus strongly recommend Usmle Step 1 Secrets 2nd edition by Brown & Brown instead.
Great with First Aid March 25, 2007 Nanya (Philadelphia) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great supplement to FA. The Neuro section is particularly useful as it goes through concepts more in depth than does FA.
Step Up February 7, 2007 Ellemed 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book is a perfect brief systems review for the visual learner. It hits the high points and has more tables that make comparing disorders easier than in the First Aid. It has great diagrams as well and isn't as all over the place as First Aid. But, it does lack some of the information in the First Aid, but you can add that stuff in anyway or get it fom Goljan...
A little bland January 9, 2007 Dogan (Eskisehir, Turkey) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is an adequate review book for students already familiar with basic concepts. However, I found that it lacked the high-yield hits or points of emphasis that would help one remember the most important aspects of a given subject. I suggest reading this book after First Aid.
comparable to first-aid March 22, 2006 Lvwrtss (NY) 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
I haven't taken Step I yet, but so far I have been using it along with my classes on system. It is very helpful. I love the charts!
