Product Description
The revised Fourth Edition of this essential text contains 19 modules that guide the reader from assessment of the pregnant woman and her fetus, through labor and delivery, to postpartum evaluation and care. Each module is carefully developed to enhance self-paced learning and skills attainment, perfect for competence validation and orientation. The text illustrates the essentials of intrapartum care. Step-by-step "How to's" (Skill Units) guide the nurse from fetal monitoring to management of high risk situations. This edition has new modules on cultural competence and OB Emergencies, including hemorrhage and Caesarian delivery "on demand", and new content on legal accountability, maternal and newborn transport, electronic fetal monitoring, and domestic violence assessment. This revision has been guided by two new co-authors, Margaret Betsy B. Kennedy of the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, and Donna J. Ruth of the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Modules October 7, 2009 Susan Tremblay Awesome, an excellent source of information for RNs, LVNs or anyone wishing to study for their RNC and working on L&D units.
All Obstetric RNs must buy, excellent for RNC study May 14, 2009 Obstetric RNC, Hawaii (Honolulu, Hawaii) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is an EXCELLENT book and a must have for all Obstetric RNs. Great explanations and easy to read. Has much more thorough explanations of pathophysiology than some of the other obstetric texts. The text also has a good review and practice tests in the back. This was my favorite book for studying for the Obstetric RNC exam. Highly recommended!
Great for those new to intrapartum nursing! December 22, 2008 J. Pillardo (Oregon) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book covers the basics of intrapartum nursing in a systematic step by step approach and offers quizzes at the end of every section. It would be great for RN students or nurses new to intrapartum nursing because it goes over skills that you will be practicing.
