5 out of 5 stars Alzheimer's families   November 15, 2009
Virginia R. Somoya (Las Vegas, NV)
After checking this book out of the library I realized there was so much valuable information that I needed my own copy from Amazon. The material in this book is invaluable to the caregivers, family members and even the patient themselves, preparing for the general progression of dementia and/or Alzheimer's disease and offering an abundance of guidelines and suggestions for handling nearly every imaginable situation. Be sure to buy the 4th edition if you decide you too need this wealth of information.

5 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended   October 29, 2009
J. W. Colvin
Upon learning of my husband's condition, a friend who lived through the same circumstances gave me an old copy of this book. After the same book was recommended by another friend I wanted a new, updated copy, in large print. Amazon was my savior. I ordered a copy for me and one for each of my husband's 3 grown children. The way the book is laid out, it is very easy to skip around and read pertinent sections of concern at the moment. It seems to be quite thorough in covering all aspects concerning the person with dimentia as well as the multitude of emotions the family as caregivers are faced with. My prayer is that you never need this; however, should you find yourself in this position, I join many in highly recommending this book.

5 out of 5 stars An excellent choice for those who work w/the elderly and the family members   October 19, 2009
B. Urban (Pgh)
Our staff who are using this book have been very satisfied with the information. We have provided this book to several families that are looking for understanding of Dementia or Alzheimer's as it relates to their family member. They have found it to be very helpful.

5 out of 5 stars Must have for caregivers whose loved one has Alzheimer's.   September 27, 2009
Mary S. Devore

There is not another book available that has been so well received by both professionals and loved ones of Alzheimer's. It educates and guides us all through this very difficult process. The key is to only read the chapter that is appropriate for your situation at that specific time. I'd suggest not reading ahead because everyone is different and their journey will be different.

5 out of 5 stars The 36-Hour Day   September 22, 2009
Curtis M. Smith (Tulsa, OK USA)
This is a wonderful, well written, informative book about the Alzheimer disease. It helps greatly in recognizing and dealing with the symptoms of the disease. I recommend it for anyone dealing with a friend or relative with Alzheimer's.
