Product Description
If you have bad breath, bleeding gums, cavities, or tooth pain--you need this book! If you suffer from asthma, diabetes, arthritis, migraine headaches, or any chronic illness, and have not found relief, this book could have the solution you need. All disease starts in the mouth! As incredible as it may seem, most of the chronic and infectious illnesses that trouble our society today are influenced by the health of our mouths. Our mouths are a reflection of the health inside our bodies. If you have poor dental health, you are bound to have other health problems. Despite regular brushing and flossing, 98 percent of the population has some degree of gum disease or tooth decay. Most people aren't even aware they have existing dental problems. Recent research has demonstrated a direct link beetween oral health and chronic illness. Simply improving the health of your teeth and gums can cure many chronic problems. More brushing, flossing, and mouthwash won't solve the problem. What will work is Oil Pulling Therapy. Oil pulling is an age-old method of oral cleansing originating from Ayurvedic medicine. It is one of the most powerful, most effective methods of detoxification and healing in natural medicine. Dr. Fife's Oil Pulling Therapy is a revolutionary new treatment combining the wisdom of Ayurvedic medicine with modern science. The science behind oil pulling is fully documented with references to medical studies and case histories. Although incredibly powerful, Oil Pulling Therapy is completely safe and simple enough for even a child.

5 out of 5 stars PLAUSIBLE THEORY, WELL-EXPLAINED   October 23, 2009
Theresa Welsh (Ferndale, Michigan, USA)

This easy-to-read small book presents an unorthodox explanation of disease (at least, I had never heard this one before). Dr. Fife says all disease begins in the mouth, with the many microscopic organisms that live among our teeth and gums. These germs, viruses and bacteria may normally do little or no harm, but when our body's defenses are weak, they can invade other parts of our body and cause illness.

One way to reduce or eliminate the bacteria is "oil pulling," so called because it involves taking a small amount of oil into the mouth and swishing it around the teeth and gums for 15 or 20 minutes, and doing it on a regular basis. The theory is that the microorganisms are pulled into the oil as you swish, and when you finally spit out the oil, all those nasty critters are ejected as well.

This does make some sense, but is it a stretch to say that all disease starts in the mouth? Dr. Fife elaborates on the theory and provides supporting evidence. He tells us about the "focal infection theory," which has fallen out of favor in the medical community, but which may hold the key. While we can clean and disinfect a wound to an arm or leg, we cannot keep out the organisms that live in our mouth. A tooth abscess is particularly damaging, Dr. Fife tells us, as these microbial invaders can pass into the bloodstream and infect organs of the body. In fact, a former neighbor of mine actually died from an untreated tooth abscess.

Dr. Fife also warns about the dangers of root canals. While dentists do disinfect the dead root, this generally does not remove all the infection. He recommends old-fashioned pulling of teeth, which does not leave infection in the mouth. Today, the emphasis in dental care seems to be about making us look good rather than protecting our health, plus there's a good profit in root canals and crowns. Dr. Fife also does not like the dark amalgam fillings, which contain mercury. For many years, I had a wonderful dentist (now retired) who was a believer in the old fillings, so I personally have a mouth full of those fillings. If you do an Internet search on this topic, you'll find lively disagreement on whether these are harmful or not. Having them all removed would be expensive, and potentially dangerous, so I'm hoping the problem is not as bad as Dr. Fifle thinks.

Since I had two bothersome health problems at the time I got this book about 7 weeks ago, I decided to try oil pulling. My problems were 1) a constant low-grade sinus infection causing headache and earache and 2) on and off arthritis, currently causing pain in my right hip. I have swished a mouthful of coconut oil each morning since I started reading this book. The sinus problem is definitely better, and I seldom have a headache any more, but I still have occasional ear problems at night. The arthritis is also better, but has been slow to disappear. I don't think it's completely gone. Arthritis tends to come and go, so you never can be sure what made it go.

However, I give this therapy high marks because, at least theoretically, it treats the actual cause and not just masks symptoms, and also because it is harmless - no side effects. Dr Fife also has a book on curing arthritis (The New Arthritis Cure: Eliminate Arthritis and Fibromyalgia Pain Permanently) that recommends oil pulling, along with taking Glucosamine/Chondroitin, improving your diet, and other recommendations. Personally, I recommend Glucosamine alone, because the Chondroitin makes the combo capsules expensive and most of the research has been done with the Glucosamine alone.

My only caveat is that Dr. Fife is connected with the Coconut Oil Research Center, which promotes the use of coconut oil. However, he is specific in his books that, while he recommends coconut oil, you can use any kind of oil for oil pulling. I decided to try the coconut oil, which I had never used before, and found an abundant choice of brands at my local natural foods store. Coconut oil is high in saturated fats, which conventional wisdom says is bad for you. But Dr Fife promotes it as a health food which will help with problems like arthritis. He says the polyunsaturated fats are actually the bad fats. Who is right? I don't know. I haven't tried taking coconut oil as a medicine for my arthritis, at least not yet, but I did discover another use for it: It makes a heck of a good furniture polish!

Who ever heard of such a thing? Let alone believe it works? My health food store recommended this process and they had just rec'd a shipment of the books. I bought the book and started oil pulling that day. Results were immediate! Incredible! Unbelievable! So Grateful to find something that works! I've had severe problems with dental/jawbone infection and oral pathogens due to root canals; toxicity issues due to crowns with heavy metals (I had tested at a metals laboratory), etc. I've struggled to heal after multiple jawbone surgeries; oil pulling is removing the bacteria and toxins from my system, allowing my body's energy resources to heal me instead of constantly fighting infection and toxins! I realize this sounds too good to be true, it isn't. I prefer to use only the healthy oils: coconut or olive oil. Multi-tasking makes the process go quickly. This is the least expensive therapy with the most significant results I've ever encountered. Try it, I think you'll be pleased.

I got this book after a week of Oil Pulling. I had such success with OP in the first week, I wanted to find out how it worked. First off, my teeth became much whiter, I am sleeping better, my digestion has improved greatly, my dry skin is suddenly soft all within one week of Oil Pulling. It's hard to believe. It is so simple and cheap to do. This book talks about theories of the how's of OP and many studies that relate. Who knew your oral health had so much to do with your whole body health?
