Under the cover of wintry dark shadows, passion's magic ignites a fire too hot to touch -- and too wicked to die....

DEEP KISS OF WINTER

Two never-before-published paranormal stories to delight the senses and tantalize the imagination!

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR

KRESLEY COLE

delivers a breathtaking tale of a brutal vampire soldier about to know love for the first time...and a Valkyrie aching to be touched.

Murdoch Wroth will stop at nothing to claim Daniela the Ice Maiden -- the delicate Valkyrie who makes his heart beat for the first time in three hundred years. Yet the exquisite Danii is part ice fey, and her freezing skin can't be touched by anyone but her own kind without inflicting pain beyond measure. Soon desperate for closeness, in an agony of frustration, Murdoch and Danii will do anything to have each other. Together, can they find the key that will finally allow them to slake the overwhelming desire burning between them?

NEW YORK TIMES AND USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR

GENA SHOWALTER

puts a daring spin on a tale of huntress and hunted...and concocts a sensual chemistry that is positively explosive.

Aleaha Love can be anyone -- literally. With only skin-to-skin contact, she can change her appearance, assume any identity. Her newest identity switch has made her an AIR (alien investigation and removal) agent and sends her on a mission to capture a group of otherworldly warriors. Only she becomes the captured. Breean, a golden-skinned commander known for his iron will who is at once dangerous and soul-shatteringly seductive, threatens her new life. Because for the first time, Aleaha only wants to be herself....

5 out of 5 stars Winning Combination   November 12, 2009

I loved both books; however, I found myself enjoying Showalter's book better than Cole's. This is a surprise because I am a Krestley Cole super fan and preorder all her books. But for some reason, this story was less compelling then her last few books. I found the characters kind of dry and I could not be sympathetic to their plight. I was somewhat disappointed with the love scene. You would think that now that the characters can finally be together, which the story has been building up, it would be earth shattering. I found it to be less than a rumble.

Showalter's story had compelling characters and kept my attention. The love scenes were steamy and inventive. This is a must read for fans of these authors.

4 out of 5 stars Cole's done it again.   November 12, 2009

I've only read Cole's story so far in this duo so I can only comment on that. Suffice to say, without comparing it to her fabulous previous works in the IAD series, this was highly enjoyable. As another reviewer said, Cole has set her own bar so ridiculously high that I think we've all equally raised our own expectations of her work. But I think I would've loved this story anyway, in however way Cole wrote it, simply because the hero was a Wroth. How could anyone NOT love those Wroth brothers? (insert dreamy sigh here) Add to it a unique, interesting and complex heroine like Daniela.. their romance was endearing to watch unfold.

What I liked about this story in particular was that Murdoch was the experienced one, the self-confessed "manwhore" while Danii was the opposite due to her being untouchable. So this time the rogue had to be tamed. In the previous books all the men had latched onto their women straight away.. not here. Murdoch was against being blooded and Danii was the one who longed to be with him. So I liked that turn of plot. I also loved reading about Danii's faction - the Iceres (even Jadian was engaging.. do I sense a story here? I hope so) I immensed myself in that world, I'm also winter-obsessed so I felt right at home.

Now I wouldn't say this has shot up to be my favourite of the series. Dark Needs at Night's Edge (Book 4) Conrad and Neomi's story will always be my #1. This ranks at about 4th or 5th (my least favourite of the Wroths but definitely better than the demons or lykae's stories!). Therefore it gets 4 stars and not 5 for lacking that tiny extra oomph that the other Wroth stories had. I think I just had less emotional investment in this one compared to the others. But it's still really, really, really, really good.

In any case Cole has an amazing talent for words. I praise her limitless imagination and ability to come up with supremely unique characters. Every time I read her books I'm engrossed in the world of the Lore. She explains every single detail pretty thoroughly.. you'd be hardpressed to find any plotholes. Can someone give her the Nobel prize equivalent for writing already?! Unless she's already won it..

One last comment- 'Deep Kiss of Winter' is a title much better suited to her own story rather than 'Untouchable'. I found that a bit weird it didn't follow the same title style as her previous books.

Now I'm just sad that the last Wroth brother has been snatched up and there'll be no more vampy goodness. Nonetheless, still looking forward to what's next, if still at a slightly lesser extent.

4 out of 5 stars Good...but not her best...   November 10, 2009

Okay - this review is only for the Kresley Cole Story - "Untouchable"

This is how the book goes "Murdoch Wroth will stop at nothing to claim Daniela the Ice Maiden -- the delicate Valkyrie who makes his heart beat for the first time in three hundred years. Yet the exquisite Danii is part ice fey, and her freezing skin can't be touched by anyone but her own kind without inflicting pain beyond measure. Soon desperate for closeness, in an agony of frustration, Murdoch and Danii will do anything to have each other."

Okay - I totally agree with the reviewer that stated "Kresley Cole has set her own bar so high in her "Immortals After Dark Series" that I don't know how she could ever beat her previous books". The reviewer is totally right. Cole's first 5 books were sooo great that it is almost impossible to beat. Heck, "A Hunger like no Other" is the best book ever and it was Krelsey's first book in the series.

This story was good but not as good as her others. I liked the heroine in this book, Daniela. I thought her personality was anything but icy. She was one of the few woman in Cole's series that knew she wanted the man up front, instead of fighting him. (I think Mariketa was also that way). Murdoch is your typical guy that doesn't want to be "blooded" and only be with one woman.

Now - I will say that I loved reading about Sebastian, Nikoli, and Conrad again. Murdoch's relationship with Daniela started about the same time that Nikoli hooks up with Myst up until present day (which we get to review Sebastian's story and Conrad's story). Reviewing the 3 other brothers made me want to go back and read their stories again. I really liked that part of the book.

I liked it and I would recommend reading it if you are a Cole fan. I just don't know if it is a keeper for your book shelves.

I'm a great fan of Kresley Cole series, but this one was not one of her best, and the fact that Gena Showalter took half of the book ! what's up with that ?? I didn't even read Gena Showalter story. When I buy a book I like to read one story not 2.Anyway like I said..... not one of her best.
