Highly Recommend!!! March 13, 2010 D. Gardner (USA, ITALY) This film is very inspirational. Touched me how it focuses on a mother's love. Its not like the typical T Perry stage play in that it doesnt give every little detail away(which usually to me gets boring and makes films too long). I highly recommend for anyone who like good theatre and music. I think it could also be a great Mother's Day gift. Im getting my mom one.
A MOTHER'S PRAYER March 10, 2010 Yvonne H (rochester, ny) IT WAS GOOD, THE GRANDFATHER WAS FUNNY BUT THEY COULD HAVE USED A REAL OLDER PERSON, I'M SURE THERE ARE A LOT OF QUALIFIED OLDER ACTORS OUT THERE THAT COULD HAVE DONE THE PART MORE JUSTICE. JOHNNY GILL SANG VERY WELL
Just Okay March 9, 2010 Naa SB-S (Atlanta, GA USA) Was looking forward to a much more interesting and entertaining play, but it was not. Turned it off half way and slept.
Truly Heartfelt stage play! December 26, 2009 D Mrs. 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I would like to say that this was an amazing remake of the original version! I know that the basis of the story is based on the writer's real life testimony which makes it that much more interesting. I loved the cast but the characters "Gramps"(Alvin Moore, Jr.) and Beulah (Shirley Murdock) stole the show for me! One minute I was laughing and the next I was crying. There is a message of true love and forgiveness sent by way of great singing and a show stopping cast! This is an introduction to a new writer on the scene and I hope to see him do great things. He's not Tyler Perry, he's Alvin Moore and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of his work including his next play "When the lights go out". There was no way I could give this performance less the 5 stars!
Are you KIDDING ME? December 12, 2009 A. Johnson (OH-IO Go Bucks) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Ok,
First of all the plot and story line was TERRIBLE! The characters were flat, transition was shabby, and the story line was predictable!
Please tell me WHY OH WHY did the grandpa have a darn pillow in his shirt and he wasn't any older than 30? Was it NOT possible to find an older man to play that part?
The daughter looked like a pure-dee fool with those two pigtails in her head... and once again... NOT FUNNY!
This thing sells for 14 dollars? Well, spend the money if you may but it will be nothing but a coaster!
I had no clue why the family was torn apart. I mean, the father had rules that MADE SENSE and the kids run away and get strung out on drugs. Why was the mother ill? What was her illness, she never even said what was wrong with her... and then wait... just wait... after the family came back together at the end like magic mom who had months left to live was cured and up and walking... HUH?
