4 out of 5 stars A Great Mug But Not Perfect   December 7, 2009

I saw one of these mugs at Starbucks and decided to give it a try as I've been wanting a Bodum glass for coffee and tea now that I have my Keurig single serve coffee machine (which I love).

The mug has heft and appears solid but I intend to use it only for hot drinks, not cold ones, as I've read that clanking ice cubes from the ice maker can crack the glass. I'm more interested in how long it keeps my hot drinks hot. I've been using it multiple times this weekend and I am not disappointed. It does keep the hot drink hot longer than a ceramic mug but not as long as my thermal double wall stainless steel travel mug. I love that it is glass and you can see your drink swirling inside but I am always afraid of its fragility. I've never put the Bodum mug in the dishwasher and every time I use a spoon to stir my coffee, I wait for the dreaded crack.

I'm giving it four stars because it does indeed do as described but I'm doubtful as to how long this mug will last under normal use.

5 out of 5 stars I think these mugs are great   December 2, 2009

I own three sixteen ounce bodum mugs and four ten ounce ones and they do keep my coffee warmer than would be the case in a regular glass or ceramic mug. Still, heat is going to escape from the top so drink up boys and girls. Don't stare at it for twenty minutes or your coffee will cool.

Thus far I have found them dishwasher safe. I have some even more fragile double walled mugs by another manufacturer and they have stood up well too. Just be gentle and watch what you place them next to in your dishwasher rack.

BTW, I bought them retail so I didn't have to deal with the same nightmare a lot of posters have here with the broken glass and all. They sell them at your local Starbucks for about the same price. Both UPS and Fedex have a tendency to drop packages over by seven foot tall back fence. Fragile objects are doomed in my case.

I appreciate all of you who warned us all of the dangers of shipping. Good luck to you and the others.

1 out of 5 stars Don't Bother   December 1, 2009

After reading a few reviews about how easily these glasses break, I decided to give it a chance and order a couple sets as a gift. Unfortunately, I too received a broken glass. Some things just aren't meant to be shipped in the mail...and this is one of them.

Also, the mugs I received had a listed capacity of 15 ounces, despite the website description of "jumbo" 16.2 oz size. I'm not sure if that was just a mix-up on my order - but amazon did agree to give me a refund. It's just a pain having to repackage & ship the glass!

I purchased this set as a gift so I can't comment on the performance of the product. However, since I did notice several reviews stating the glasses arrived broken, I did want to state that my glasses arrived packaged well and unbroken.

5 out of 5 stars love this product but not from amazon.com   November 16, 2009

I love this product. It keeps beverages hot for a long time. My husband and I enjoy drinking coffee out of them in the hot tub. But don't order them from Amazon.com. I placed an order and re-order and both times they arrived broken. They took care of the problem but they don't know how to package them. Order them from Crate and Barrel.
