Cozy Dylan (4+ stars) November 21, 2009 E. Lorge (Earth Human) This is album great fun. Speaking as someone who, as a rule, doesn't even care for Christmas music, I find myself singing along with every song.
To the fools and bellyachers who bought the album without listening to it first on Amazon, I have one question; What did you expect??! Seriously, this is exactly like the other material Dylan has been recording recently, but as Christmas carols.
No, this it ain't "Bing Crosby's White Christmas"... get over it.
Like a real Christmas tree November 21, 2009 R. Reynolds I wondered what this would be like. Piqued my curiosity. Now I know! It's pure Christmas. Kind of like having a real Christmas tree after all those years of fake trees. It's gritty - for lack of a better word - but very entertaining. The tempo fluctuates from solemn to bouncy. Bob isn't Bing, but he doesn't try to be. I think this is an album that only a vintage (age 68) Bob would want to do. Every artist writes his or her own history/discography - and this is a pretty unexpected and pleasurable chapter in the book of Dylan. I'd recommend it to Dylan fans and Christmas music lovers too!
Absolutely Pathetic. A New Holiday Low. November 20, 2009 R. Stack (New York) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bob's usual horrid, nasally whine has been replaced by an off key, gravelly Louie Armstrong-esque grunt. This cd will surely scare the bejeesus out of kids of all ages or anyone with any musical sensibilities. Give the sound engineer's credit for getting through the obviously torturous chore of recording this mess. One has to wonder at what point did they proclaim "You nailed it Bob, that's a wrap!" This makes Stevie Nicks' rendition of "Silent Night" sound like an angel singing. Hallucinagenics should be handed out with this disc at the point of purchase.
Christmas in the Heart U P November 19, 2009 Dianne Rommel 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am glad to have purchased Christmas in the Heart. I have been listening to the CD often and hearing the traditional carols has roused the Christmas Spirit early. Dylan's voice is awesome. The way he sings makes one forget about the commercialism that Christmas has become. Thinking about the music and his singing makes me want to play it again right now. Anyone would thoroughly enjoy this CD.

Best Christmas Album Ever! November 19, 2009 John Draper (Sin City, UT) Somehow, this just works. The syrupy background vocals nicely contrast Dylan's gravelly voice. I cringed when I first saw that he was was releasing a Christmas album. The instrumentation is nice and varied. Some of it is bluesy, while other tunes have more traditional arrangements. I am not a big fan of Christmas music, but this will be in rotation all season long. It's a lot better than his last album, Together Through Life, which I listen to, but hasn't really stuck on me yet.
