Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
2009 soundtrack to the hit TV show featuring tracks performed by the show's cast. Glee, from Ryan Murphy (creator of Nip/Tuck), is an uplifting comedy musical series with biting humor that features a soundtrack of hit music from past to present. The show follows an optimistic high school teacher as he tries to refuel his own passion for singing while reinventing the school's glee club and challenging a group of ragtag performers to realize their star potential. Each episode of the series features an eclectic selection of hits from genres spanning pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Country, Broadway and Rock 'n' Roll, reinterpreted through the lens of Murphy's modern sensibility and razor-sharp wit.

5 out of 5 stars One of the best CDs Ever! You need it - now! :)   November 21, 2009

I love this CD. I just got it a few days ago and have already played the whole thing atleast 10 times. The singers on it are sooooo talented. It's def. a fun, refreshing CD. If you have kids - you need to get them this CD right now. But, it's an album for anyone really with old favorites. Looking forward to more volumes coming out!

Spread some Gleeeee! :)

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful   November 18, 2009

I know some people have said that some of the songs are a little "too close" to the originals, but for those of us who enjoy smart covers this CD is tops. The kids' vocals are strong, and they're all around great versions of some very popular songs. The CD as with the show, is highly addictive.

My only pet peeve with the CD is the absence of "Leaving on A Jet Plane" and "I Could Have Danced..."

5 out of 5 stars A Soaring Volume   November 16, 2009
Phoenix Child (USA)
Infused with youthful energy and effervesence, "Glee" succeeds where any other cover album would fail. Moving between musical hits and chart-toppers, listening to these songs will make you remember why some music just has you jumping out of your seat to dance and singing along.

I've never seen an episode of "Glee," but I had previously heard the stunningly catchy redux of Journey's epic kareoke standby "Don't Stop Believin'" before, so I bought this album as a tester to see whether or not I wanted to watch the show. Now, I'm chomping at the bit to catch up so I can watch it live.

There aren't any losers on this album -- the fact that some of the kids on here are unpolished and sound like a high school drama department just adds to the overall charm of the music. This album quickly wins your heart and soul, whether it's the unexpected male vocals on "Defying Gravity" or a particularly soulful redo of "Bust Your Windows." The one that really takes the cake, however, is the hilarious attempt at "Gold Digger;" it's so campy that it almost overtakes your enjoyment of the original.

The room-rousing rendition of "Somebody to Love" is another standout, but "Glee" is not without the unexpected -- for instance, a twangy version of "Sweet Caroline" as well as a choral version of "Keep Holding On." This absolutely fantastic album soars from the speakers directly to your inner twelve-year-old, back when everyone wanted to be a rock star and it wasn't embarassing to sing out loud in your bedroom.

While it looks like Vol. 2 (due to hit stores in December) will have more Broadway than pop radio on it, I'll still most likely be getting it the day it comes out -- if only to hear this plentifully talented cast perform "My Life Would Suck Without You."

Five out of five stars!

4 out of 5 stars Missing tracks   November 14, 2009

The whole family love this show, they sing and dance along with the cast. I'm sorry to see that the Mash-ups of Halo/Walking on Sunshine and It's My life/Confessions are missing. They were done with the same studio quality on the show and I would love to have full versions on the CD. In fact, they could put every song and crank out more albums and it is still great value.
The first couple of shows, my husband turned his nose up because he thought it was a soap opera but the singing soon won him over and he can't stop listening to the copies I have videoed from the show. It is so good, I will be buying all of the CD's music etc.
There are too few shows where you feel good after watching them and find yourself humming the tunes at work so I hope Glee has many, many seasons left in it.
Go Glee!

5 out of 5 stars I'm a Gleek and I'm Proud   November 12, 2009
Ferdy (Georgia, USA)
I'm in love with this show and this CD. It's just plain fun and the music is always top notch. My daughter and I ordered the CD and have loved listening to the songs and singing along. It's some of the favorites from the show like "Don't Believing" and "Gold Digger", "Can't Fight this Feeling" and others. I'm looking forward to Vol. 2 which will hopefully include "Single Ladies" one of my top 5 from the show. If you're a Glee fan, the CD is a must. As every song plays, you're replaying the corresponding show scene in your head. If you aren't a Gleek, it's not going to be as much fun for you. Don't get me wrong, the music is still great but without the show references I don't think it would be the same.
