Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Connect your appliances into the Kill A Watt, and assess how efficient they are. A large LCD display counts consumption by the Kilowatt-hour just like utility companies. You can figure out your electrical expenses by the hour, day, week, month, even an entire year. Monitor the quality of your power by displaying Voltage, Line Frequency, and Power Factor

I no longer wonder if the ratings on certain electronics are trying to pull my leg.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing   March 9, 2010

First off, I purchased this from Radio Shack and not Amazon for about $24.99 plus tax.

The knowledge this product will save me $158.40 a year based on $0.12 a kWh just on what I learned about my computer. My computer's surge protector used .11 kWh in 44 minutes in stand by mode. That's about 110 kWh in a month or about $13.20 a month. I mean come on!

I have had my computer on stand by mode for at least 9 years! That is $1425!!!! Having a tool like this is amazing and incredibly money saving. If you don't buy this, you are wasting your money. Having my HP Laptop charger plugged in but not connected to the laptop, used 0 kWh. Right now I am checking to see how much it takes to charge it from 0% to 100%. Then how much it uses to leave it connected 24/7. I am having a lot of fun with this. BUY IT YOU WILL LOVE IT!

5 out of 5 stars Alot of info for a small price   March 5, 2010

This unit works great, it will let you know how much energy you are using when the unit is off, or working at full load. I worked in the electronic industry for 36 years, this unit is as good as some of the voltage analyzers I worked with that cost a thousand dollars!

5 out of 5 stars Just plug it in   February 28, 2010

Fantastic device. The first appliance I tested was my 30 year old Amana 13 cubic foot upright deep freeze. After three days it had used only three KWH. Convinced me there was no need to spend a lot of money to replace it while trying to reduce operating cost. It's on loan to a friend right now and he's thinking of buying one for himself. When I get mine back I'll be checking everything that's plugged in.

5 out of 5 stars Best Money I have spent on Amazon   February 26, 2010

I am just so pleased with this Kill A Watt unit. It has been fun to use and and investigate all my power consumption. Some things are just for infomational purposes because I can't unplug them(i.e. Refridgerator) and others are devices where we can change our habits some and start savinfg some real money every month.

Pros: Easy to use, inexpensive, small profile,

Cons: Setting disapear when unplugged, zero directions

I think that the company that made this unit could be more helpful if they were to offer a spreadsheet on their website that people could download and use for figuring out their power consumption. I made one myself but it took a lot of time. Also not everyone is good at math and formulas it would be helpful if they offered a small cheat sheet for people to use to help them get started on the math of KWH and how we are all bileed for our electricity.
