Product Description

Whip your bath into a frothy fizzing sea of color and fragrance. Make colorful, fragrant bath gels, bath fizzers, spa lotion, bath balm, a face mask, and shampoo. Mix colors and fragrances to creat your own product line with secret and exclusive mixtures. Explore the science of gels, fragrance and fizzers.

Mixing fragrances in the bathtub is a delight for both girls and boys. It’s one of the best ways to introduce them to the fun of science. Kids will spend hours in the tub with this kit mixing ingredients to make foaming frothing baths and smelling potions and conducting science experiments to see how scents affect our alertness, moods and memories. Comparing the responses of siblings, parents and friends makes this a shared adventure the entire family will enjoy

The best way to get girls interested in science (We all know research indicates girls become less interested in math and science at puberty) is to engage them in activities they are interested in. So what could be better than SPA SCIENCE? Girls relax and experiment with many fragrances in their bath and it is real chemistry. They perform experiments with unbreakable, safe test tubes and learn the secret behind the chemical reaction of foaming and frothing baths.

Shhhh…! Don’t tell boys this is for girls since they will really want this kit too! It’s perfect for science fairs, birthday parties and family fun. It will help both girls and boys to think like a scientist in the tub!

2 out of 5 stars Not worth the money!!!   February 1, 2010

My daughter got this for Christmas...What a joke! The box looks so fun but the materials are lack thereof. The kits contains some ingredients but most of the stuff you must get yourself. Basically a cool box with an instruction guide. We opened it thinking we were going to make soap or bath foam..no not without tons of other ingredients...my daughter was disappointed!!! We purchased other kits, basically the same...don't waste your money when you can go online and get the same recipes.

3 out of 5 stars Good with Additional Materials   January 7, 2010

I would say that this product would have made a better book than kit. The kit does not include enough materials for all the experiments. My daughter was very excited by creating the spa items, but had to add a lot of science behind the projects which was lacking. We took the formulas and bought the needed ingredients to create a more full fun / educational experience.

This is the second time I bought this kit, this time for my younger daughter. she loves it just as much as her older sister did when we bought it for her. Older sister got very excited, and led younger sister through various activities. Good for 8-10 year olds

4 out of 5 stars Fun, but could use more "science"   December 30, 2009

I liked the idea that my daughter could play "mad scientist" - she's always mixing up concoctions and experimenting in this way, so this seemed a perfect fit. I wish there were more measuring tools and was hoping for more observational activities. I was VERY surprised that this kit does NOT contain everything you need for the activities and while the extra materials are easily obtained, it was somewhat of a letdown to not be able to play with the kit until we had a chance to go grocery shopping. That aside - my nine-year old is still thrilled with the kit and excited to do more experiments.

1 out of 5 stars Explosive Results   December 6, 2009

Our daughter purchased a Spa Science Kit created by Scientific Explorer with her own money at a retail store. Here is her experience: The accident happened when our daughter was 11 years old. She was experimenting with some of the products in the test tube that came with the kit, added water, screwed on the lid, and BAM... there was an EXPLOSION. The lid burst off and struck her in the eye causing serious damage. It sounded like a gun-shot in our home bellowing from top to bottom. (The explosion was recreated and the result showed that the lid could have been travelling as fast as 125mph.) There was blood everywhere. 911 was called. She was rushed by ambulance to our city's children's hospital where she underwent surgery to repair some of the acute injuries. The iris of her eye was detached as a result of the severe impact, and she had other injuries. She has had 3 surgeries trying to correct the damage. Re-attaching her iris was a 5 hour surgery. She was basically blind in the eye until after her third surgery and spent her summer in chair because raising her blood pressure could cause more problems. She has had the lens in her eye replaced so that she can see. The new lens even came with a warranty card for recall purposes... We have been told to expect a 4th laser surgery. The future problems are unknown at this time. This product was definitely not worth the [...] she paid for it and we will regret purchasing it for the rest of our lives.
