Product Description
You just have to play this game to believe it. This is a rare game that really is for the whole family. We added color to this classical stacking game and a unique twist on how it is played. Each player rolls the dice, and moves a block to the corresponding color. The last person to move a block without the tower tumbling is the winner. Several variations of play keep this game interesting for everyone. Contains 55 colorful wooden pieces.

5 out of 5 stars Loads of Fun   February 7, 2010

Timber is a wonderful game. It is loads of fun for everyone. You can have many players. They each take turns. You can use the blocks for lots of other fun stuff too. We have a player who is too young for the game, but he really enjoys stacking the blocks to make lots of different things. You can't go wrong with this game and the enjoyment last for hours and hours.

5 out of 5 stars Jenga - with Attitude...   August 30, 2009

If you are familiar with the game Jenga, then you will understand why I call Rainbow Timber "Jenga with Attitude." Like Jenga, the object of the game is to remove pieces from the tower without causing it to topple over. However, by adding the colored die, the game is taken to another level - one requiring a higher level of reasoning skill and greater dexterity.

Further, Rainbow Timber adds an element of chance that is not present in Jenga. In my opinion, that aspect of the game also makes it more suitable as a game to play with younger players. Because each player must remove a piece matching the color showing when the die is rolled, younger players may feel they are on a more level playing field. Yes, the thought process and reasoning to determine which piece will be the most appropriate to remove still exists. And yes, adults may have an advantage based on those skills. But by adding the element of chance, younger players may feel they have a better opportunity to compete and win.

This game is rated for age 6 and above. However, I believe that younger children, perhaps as young as 3, could enjoy this game if an adult was playing it with them. As with other toys, one would have to gauge the maturity level and the attention span of the child to determine whether it is suitable.

5 out of 5 stars great wood, educational, battery-free game/toy   December 4, 2008

I discovered this game at a creative friend's house. Her son, age 5, introduced me to it. Rainbow Timber is made in Germany, of solid, painted wood. Recommended age on box is 6-99. There are "54 wood blocks in 6 colors, one multicolored wooden die" per the box. The box comes with a cardboard stacker. Pull out the blocks, one at a time, and hope the tower doesn't fall. The game is interesting and suspenseful, but it is also versatile: it can also function as an add on to blocks collections or become whatever children create. Parents will have fun playing the game and perhaps welcome the challenge. Don't feel bad when your kids win!
