Product Description Meet the men in Diana Josephs life: The boy, Dianas fourteen-year-old son, who supports the NRA and dreams of living in a house with wall-to-wall carpeting; Dianas father, whos called her on the telephone twice, ever, and who sat her down when she was twelve to caution her against becoming a slut (she didnt listen); Dianas brothers, or, as her father calls them, the two assholes; Dianas ex-husband, a lumberjack with three ex-wives, yet hes still the first one she calls when shes in a jam; and Dianas common-law husband, Al, an English professor whos been mistakenly called mentally challenged. Ostensibly organized around the various men in Dianas life, this is really a memoir about what its like to be a modern, smart woman making her way in the world.

Now This Is What I Want from a Book March 21, 2010 Steve Gillard (Port Townsend, Washington USA) Diana Joseph is writing straight out of The Mystery where all the good art is made. In The Mystery, all those things we don't want other people to know we said or thought or did become luminous and make us less ashamed and want to laugh more and love each other better. That's what I want from a book, and it's not that easy to find. If you're reading this, you've found yourself a book that will give you a pass into The Mystery. Buy it and use it.
One of the best.... March 13, 2010 Alexis C. Bonavitacola (New York, NY) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
books I've ever read. I couldn't put this book down. The raw, real, truthful writing of Diana Joseph left me wanting to read more and more by this writer. I actually read small bits at a time, only because I wanted the experience to last a little longer and I am truly sorry this book ever ended. Now what to read that will reel me in? Everything about this book, pages where I folded over the little secrets where I could relate but didn't want anyone to know, wanting to give the book away to my closest friends but not wanting to part with it - a definite keeper forever. What a terrific find. I've never even liked this kind of raw writing before and now I am hooked. Thanks, Diana. I want to take a course with you or learn from you - but, of course, your book helped me understand and accept myself just a little bit more.
Horrible and Forgettable March 9, 2010 Canadian American (Illinois) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I read this book in one sitting and was not impressed in any way. It is an extremely forgettable book.
depressing and not funny March 8, 2010 M4 (Massachusetts) Frankly, I fail to see what is redeeming about a life story filled with such depressing and awful events and people. I guess one might find these tales somewhat poignant, but I just found this book depressing and devoid of the humor or irony or hopefulness that would make reading it meaningful. Nor did I feel any sense that she or the reader could transcend the grim consequences of her choices.
A delightful read! March 3, 2010 Wendi J. Avery I'm Sorry You Feel That Way: The Astonishing But True Story of a Daughter, Sister, Slut, Wife, Mother, and Friend to Man & Dog, by Diana Joseph is a truly delightful read. I could relate to her in so many ways, in so many of her private, personal situations! She is brutally honest, funny, compassionate, loving, witty, smart and charming. I didn't want the book to end. Please pick up a copy and enjoy!
