| Customer Reviews: Love My Desk Calendar November 13, 2009 Bird Girl (California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am a life member of the Sierra Club and I buy this desk calendar every year. I need this style of calendar to keep my appointments, so if I am going to buy it, it might as well be this one to support the Sierra Club's effort. 5 stars for the photographs as they are breathtaking. There is one negative review posted about the calendar that I would like to make a correction on. Although I do wish the calendar was made on 100% recycled stock and made with recycled or vegetable inks (and yes, I have written to SC to put pressure on them to change the content), the pages inside the calendar are printed on 50% recovered waste with 10% post consumer waste. It also says the virgin component of the paper is chlorine free and from tree farms. I would give it 5 stars when SC has the printer upgrade the content. Does the negative reviewer do other things to offset such as using 100% recycled toilet paper, papertowels, office copy paper, recycled ink cartridges, etc. like I and other do?
A Calender for People Who Don't Really Know Nature October 28, 2009 Dmitri Ulinov (California, USA) 2 out of 13 found this review helpful
Want a gift to show that you care more about nature than the guy in the cubicle next to you?
Feel an urge to wallow in your environmental smugness and sophistry on a daily basis?
Need a way to experience nature without really having to get injured by it?
Well, put on your spandex bicycle outfit emblazoned with your favorite soccer team and microbrew logo, hop on your titanium-wheeled Canondale that has a custom-designed rainforest-safe seat, and pedal on down to the local indie bookstore to enjoy a pumpkin chai, half-calf, half-decaf, soy milke latte with extra organic nutmeg and order up this calendar from Amazon on your iPhone (since you actually don't want to buy books from indie bookstores, you just want to be seen there).
This calendar is all about feeling good about yourself. Is it printed on recyclable paper? Of course not! It wouldn't look good then. Can you recycle it easily after next year? Well, you can toss it in one of your 14 different recycling bins but the glossy paper and high resolution ink will mean that somebody at the recycling plant will have to pluck it out and throw it in the landfill adding to the overall inefficiency of recycling. But that's not the point here. The point is to delude yourself into thinking that although you live in a dirty little city that its residents can't keep clean, you are still communing with nature.
If you think nature's beauty is a fragile thing and celebrate it with this calendar, I will give you a hoe and have you scrape off the 15 different varieties of fungi that are growing on the side of my barn. You don't need a calendar when every morning you have to get up and feed the stock. While you are all trying to save the planet, the rest of us are trying to feed you so you can keep on whining. Put that in your daily caldendar!
Wouldn't Be Without It September 30, 2009 The Movie Man (Maywood, New Jersey USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've bought this calendar every year for many years. I love the beautiful photos and the fact that it's divided into one-week segments. This makes it convenient to list appointments and upcoming events. I don't like wall calendars as they make it difficult to write on and mar the wall onto which they are affixed. I wish all calendars were this practical and beautifully designed.

My husband loves this calendar. Year after year, the pictures are always beautiful. While not for those who have to keep track of a lot of appointments, the blank space for each day is perfect for jotting down after-work and weekend activities.Sierra Club 2010 Engagement Calendar
great calendar September 8, 2009 Pamela Gruber 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Great desk calendar; plenty of space to write. Calendar is all on the right side; leaving plenty of room to attach notes on the left. Awesome photographs. I buy one every year!!
