Product Description

When news broke of three-year-old Caylee Anthony’s disappearance from her home in Florida in July 2008, there was a huge outpouring of sympathy across the nation. The search for Caylee made front-page headlines. But there was one huge question mark hanging over the case: the girl’s mother.

As the investigation continued and suspicions mounted, Casey became the prime suspect. In October, based on new evidence against Casey—her erratic behavior and lies, her car that showed signs of human decomposition—a grand jury indicted the young single mother. Then, two months later, police found Caylee’s remains a quarter of a mile away from the Anthony home. Casey pled not guilty to charges of murder in the first degree, and she continues to protest her innocence. Did she or didn’t she kill Caylee? This is the story of one of the most shocking, confusing, and horrific crimes in modern American history.

5 out of 5 stars Great review of the case so far!!!!!!!!!!!   November 22, 2009

I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered this book..... I thought it was a very well written refesher course on the facts as they have been stated throughout the investigation. The only problem is Ms. Fanning will need
to write Mommy's Little Girl 2-3-4 to keep up with all the details that are constantly being released!!

I thought she did an excellant job, it was a page turner and I read it in 2 sittings. It felt like I was right there watching everything happen. Excellant ..........Thank you for putting everything together with such a great time line!

5 out of 5 stars A Must-Read!!!   November 18, 2009

Like so many people, I was riveted from the start by the disappearance of beautiful little Caylee Anthony, a Florida toddler who went missing just before her third birthday. As many others did, I found her mother Casey's behavior very suspicious following the alleged abduction by a "nanny". And who could forget the universal heartbreak when the body of this lovely child was found, murdered and thrown away a mere stone's throw from the Anthony residence?

I just stumbled across "Mommy's Little Girl" in my local bookstore--I had no idea anyone had yet written a book about the case, which as yet has not even gone to trial. At present, Casey Anthony sits in a Florida jail facing a charge of capital murder. OF HER OWN CHILD.

To be honest, I am just starting to read this book, but even in the first few pages I have found information regarding the case I never heard before--and not for lack of interest! Diane Fanning, the author, is an award-winning true-crime writer, and thankfully, she has chosen to write about this horrific crime without resorting to exploitation or sensationalism. And although I seldom think of reviewing a book before finishing it, I felt compelled to tell everyone who has been touched by this story that this book is an absolute MUST!

It's not an easy read, despite being well-written. It's the FACTS that are so hard to take. Someone murdered a gorgeous, innocent, happy and loving little girl almost before her life had begun--and tragically, she was most probably murdered by someone close to her. Someone who should have loved and protected her, but chose instead to snuff out her life and toss her aside. This book will break your heart.

And the dedication at the beginning of this book?

"To Caylee Marie Anthony"

May this child of sunshine rest in peace. And may she find justice at last.

5 out of 5 stars Good "Cliff Notes" on the case...   November 13, 2009

I'm retired and have admittedly spent too much time keeping up with this case. There is so much raw data "out there" that it's been difficult to put all the pieces together. Periodically, due to Florida's Sunshine Laws, there are prolific amounts of documents released. Diane Fanning methodically went through every bit of it and wove it into a tightly-knit presentation. It helped me understand the backstory on Casey, her family dynamics and a potential scenario of the crime itself. (There has since been another "document dump" that puts a different light on how the crime might have been committed.) Still, I highly recommend this book for anyone who plans to be around watching at trial time.

4 out of 5 stars Could not put down   November 13, 2009

But I deducted one star for the hyped "eight alarming photographs". The stuff downloaded on Casey's computer, the Anthonys' home, Casey's room, Caylee's sunglass collection, investigators sifting through dirt, have all been seen before. Otherwise, a page-turner. While it includes the police interviews we've already read, it's helpful to have everything laid out chronologically. And there is a lot of information I have not seen online. Well worth buying if you're as obsessed with this case as I am.

5 out of 5 stars a believable timeline and collection of facts   November 7, 2009

I received my copy of this book in the mail yesterday afternoon, threw something at my husband for supper, and began reading. Wow, this book has it all. After all the documents that have been released, all the TV coverage and endless speculation about this case, this author manages to put all of that information into an understandable timeline. I was intrigued with the background history on George and Cindy...I also saw things in the book that lead me to believe their marriage will not survive this after the trial. Casey Anthony did so much damage to this family, and the damage continues to this day, and beyond. I think that Casey will be found guilty when the trial finally takes place....if for some crazy reason she is set free, I wonder what country she'll live in.
