Much better than the Brady Vol. 4 Trauma Care! March 12, 2009 Tim L. Lundstrom (St. Paul, MN.) Yes, this is a much, much better book relating to trauma care than the Brady Paramedic series Volume 4 Trauma Care! As with the Mosby books, prefer them over many of the Brady Books. As for the PHTLS book, the photos, diagrams, charts, etc., are way more professional looking. All of the information is laid out and organized in a much better format and easier to follow along with. I can't always say the same for the Brady book. I wished my paramedic class would have used this book over the Brady Trauma book! If I was a paramedic instructor, I would diffinitely use the PHTLS book over the Brady book! If you are going to invest the time and effort into a paramedic program, I would purchase this book ahead of time and study it well! You will more than likely have a better understanding going into trauma care portion of the program. The chapters that stood out to me was those pertaining to gun shots, chest trauma, head trauma and burn care.
PHTLS review January 25, 2009 Andrew Luckow (Mundelein, IL USA) A good supplement for learning experience. Interesting background information at the start. Good details in the text, review questions that work, & scenarios at the beginning of ea chapter with solution at the end. Aimed at learning not at just passing the EMT exam. Good detailed information with the DVD backing up each skill described. There are a lot of good diagrams backed up with actual photographs of injuries with treatment. Well thought out instructions in each chapter, from single incidence to mass trauma. I am very glad to add this to my library.

Excellent book. Well organized, direct and practical. Fairly easy to read and the approach is very interesting. We have used some of the techiques described, and all have been effective. Worth the money and its a good way to improve/expand your skills.
