Product Description
Henry Huggins's dog, Ribsy, is hopelessly lost in a huge shopping mall parking lot. It's raining hard, the pavement is slick, horns are honking, and drivers are shouting. When Ribsy thinks he has found the Hugginses' new station wagon at last, he jumps in the open tailgate window and falls asleep, exhausted. When he wakes up find himself in the wrong car, lots of little girls pet him and make plans to give him a bath. All Ribsy wants to do is go home to Henry. Instead, he's about to begin the liveliest adventure of his life.

It was FANTASTIC! September 19, 2009 L. Marantz (Kaneohe, HI) I have read a lot of books by Beverly Cleary. Mostly about Ramona but never about Henry. I thought it was great. After reading that book now I want to get a dog like Ribsy.
I liked this book. September 8, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Huggins family had just got a brand new shiny, clean, green car, and Mrs. Huggins wants to keep it that way, so Ribsy has not had one ride in it. One day the family hopped into the car to go to the shopping center and Ribsy chases the car until they let him get into the car. The family heads into the shopping center leaving Ribsy behind in the car, He spots a tiny Yapping dog and hops out the window to chase after it getting himself hopelessly lost in the huge parking lot. For a Long time he searches for the car until he sees a brand new, Shiny, Clean, Red car, Ribsy ( being colorblind) he hops into the car and when he wakes up he is surrounded by girls. They end up taking him home and giving him a bubble bath. He escapes and goes on many more adventures including living with old Mrs. Frawley, staying in a childrens classroom, playing in a football game, going to a boy named joes house, and going down a fire escape at a hotel. He ends up back in henrys car and on the way home
I liked this book and i recommend it and the other Beverly Cleary books.
Classic 50's children's book is timeless January 15, 2008 M. M. Hennessy (San Jose, Calif USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ribsy is one of Beverly Cleary's series on the children of Klikitat Street in Portland Oregon. It is pure 50's childhood and very entertaining. I use this as an independent reading selection for groups of my fourth grade ESL students. They can easily read it on their own, helping one another on the vocabulary, and they stay interested. All have asked to take it home to finish it. If you're a teacher who is looking to keep your class occupied while you hone in on students with learning problems, then let them read any of this series and they will let you work with your group for a half hour without interruption.
If you're looking for a good gift for a child in 3d, 4th or 5th grade, this is one.
Great author! May 9, 2007 S. A. Wetzel (Ohio) I purchased this book for my daughter who loves reading Beverly Cleary books. I read her books, too, when I was little. I have purchased just about every book she has written!
A Great Dog Tale March 11, 2007 S. George (Sunny SoCal) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My 7 year old grandson and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Ribsy while driving. In fact my grandson would beg me to stay in the parked car once we were home so he could continue to listen. Of course I couldn't do that because I had to know what was happening next to Ribsy also. It's a delightful story for both young and slightly older ears.
