Product Description Marine Sniper is not only one of the most astonishing true stories to emerge from the Vietnam War, it has become a classic of military nonfiction, inspiring a sequel, Silent Warrior: The Marine Sniper's Vietnam Story Continues.
There have been many Marines. There have been many marksmen. But there has only been one Sergeant Carlos Hathcock. A legend in the Marine ranks, Hathcock stalked the Viet Cong behind enemy lines-on their own ground. And each time he emerged from the jungle having done his duty. His record is one of the finest in military history, with 93 confirmed kills.
This is the story of a simple man who endured incredible dangers and hardships for his country and his Corps. These are the missions that have made Carlos Hathcock a legend in the brotherhood of Marines.
"Highly readable." (Publishers Weekly)

Great Book November 20, 2009 Ralph Adam Fine Hathcart was a hero, as were most of the men and women who gave so much in Lyndon Johnson's fool's errand we remember as the Vietnam war. His reward? A pension of less than $700 a month and incredible physical and mental pain. Our politicos send men and women to war, given them medals, and we all bask in their heroic sacrifices, while they are relegated to the dusty alleys of lives that could have been.
Is Hollywood asleep? Should be a movie. October 26, 2009 George Kelso Jr. (huntington beach, ca USA) Should be a movie for people like me can eat Dots and slurp sodas. It's amazing what some will do for their counntry and what others want their country to do for them. God bless you Carlos Hathcock!

Marine Sniper August 11, 2009 Jerry A. Cox (Memphis, TN)
Spectacular book. It lets one know so much about the reality of the Viet Nam war and the men who fought for us especially the snipers who I consider real heros.
Great to know we have had men like this. May 16, 2009 Bert H. Berrong If you want to know what it takes to actually be a sniper, then this book is for you. By the end of the book, you will really appreciate the fact that we have some REALLY superior people as citizens of this country.
