Product Description The human-canine bond: a relationship steeped in love with equal parts mutual respect, trust, and regard In this groundbreaking book, professional dog trainer Victoria Schade reveals that a successful relationship between you and your dog isn't about establishing yourself as the pack leader, but about building a meaningful bond. She explains how this bond forms the core of your entire relationship; if it's lacking, it's the primary source of any frustration you may be having with your dog. First, you'll take a quiz to help you gauge your current relationship with your dog. Next, you'll learn the building blocks for creating a positive, mutually rewarding bond-from granting privileges to being unpredictable to offering ample praise and playtime. You'll discover how a bonded dog: -
Listens to obedience cues -
Wants you in her sightlines, even in intriguing environments -
Doesn't escape through open doorways -
Understands and follows your house rules -
Wants to be close to you and work with you -
Truly trusts and respects you Whether you share your heart and home with a puppy, an adolescent, or a senior dog, it's never too early or too late to build a bond to last a lifetime-and this book shows you how.

| Customer Reviews: Great Read ! November 9, 2009 D. Parks (Reidsville, NC) I really have enjoyed this book. I have 3 Cavaliers who are very sensitive and submissive. Other training and bonding methods are just too harsh for these guys. This book has enlightened me to techniques that make training a joy for the crew and delightful for me as I can see their "lightbulb" moments when they just get it. The book is great!
Excellent Resource August 12, 2009 Martin Spieldock (Baltimore) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
I have had three dogs (now four)and always wondered what I could do to create a even better bond than kindness alone would let me have with them. This wonderful book answers those questions and more. I just got my fourth dog from a Lab rescue, and now I know much more to help me train her and create even more love between us. I thanked the author by email, but let me do it again here for writing such a terrific book.
Informative and Interesting May 15, 2009 Cat Needham (chantilly, VA USA) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
This is a really great book. It combines basic common-sense strategies to not only train your dog, but to really *bond* with your dog, which is an often overlooked component. Victoria, a professional dog trainer, combines tips along with client-inspired stories that are both humorous and informative. This isn't a rote step by step "how to" type book; it's more of a holistic approach to improving the relationship we have with our dogs. Victoria also reminds us that building the canine-human bond can and should be a lot of FUN! Fast and easy read too.
