Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The first edition of this book was responsible for inspiring tens of thousands of people to adopt ex-racers. Now, this fully updated edition features groundbreaking veterinary information not available anywhere else. Greyhound authority Cynthia Branigan–who has placed over 4,000 Greyhounds through her organization–offers updated statistics on the costs involved with adopting as well as new health information, such as warnings about tick-borne diseases and suggestions on buying veterinary insurance. Branigan carefully explains how to care for a Greyhound–everything from feeding and grooming to training–and how to extend the dog’s life span. Readers will also find a wealth of updated information on medical conditions in Greyhounds and the latest in tests and treatment.

4 out of 5 stars another great deal   October 11, 2009
V. Cook
I plan to adopt a greyhound and this book will be a help to me.

5 out of 5 stars a little bit of everything you need to know...   September 8, 2009
P. Hughes (Stillwater, OK, USA)
This is a good reference book for anyone thinking about adopting one of the gentle giants. It gives a good look into life before they become available to be adopted. I wished the book had talked about brood mamas, because there are lots of those available for adoption, as well.

5 out of 5 stars A good resource for greyhound owners   September 2, 2009
Patricia Newman (Atlanta, GA, USA)
Good information. Can never get enough knowledge about greyhounds. They are so special.

5 out of 5 stars Recommended by the Greyhound Rescue Foundation   August 4, 2009
Mary Werner (Stormville, NY)
Recommended by the Greyhound Rescue Foundation. I bought it for someone thinking about adopting a greyhound.

2 out of 5 stars Not much info about the track life   July 15, 2009

This book is probably good for someone who has never had greyhounds. I have had non-track greys. I got this book to learn about the particulars of the rescues off the track as I was interested in fostering. I really didn't learn very much at all that I didn't already know. Now I'm reading the Racing Greyhounds for Dummies book. I haven't finished it yet, but I already like that one a lot better.
