Product Description The true, bewildering story of a young woman’s disappearance, the nightmare of a small town obsessed with delivering justice, and the bizarre dream of a poor, uneducated man accused of murder—a case that chillingly parallels the one, occurring in the very same town, chronicled by John Grisham in The Innocent Man.
On April 28, 1984, Denice Haraway disappeared from her job at a convenience store on the outskirts of Ada, Oklahoma, and the sleepy town erupted. Tales spread of rape, mutilation, and murder, and the police set out on a relentless mission to bring someone to justice. Six months later, two local men—Tommy Ward and Karl Fontenot—were arrested and brought to trial, even though they repudiated their “confessions,” no body had been found, no weapon had been produced, and no eyewitnesses had come forward. The Dreams of Ada is a story of politics and morality, of fear and obsession. It is also a moving, compelling portrait of one small town living through a nightmare.

PONOTOC COUNTY JUSTICE March 7, 2010 HOOTIE GIRL (OKLAHOMA) I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN. TOMMY WARD IS STILL IN PRISON IN OKLAHOMA. THIS IS A TRAGIC CASE.
square peg February 24, 2010 Bette B. Prater (okc,ok,usa) The ADA PD, OSBI, DISTRICT ATTORNEY PETERSON
succeed in placing a square peg in a round hole and convict 2
subjects on Murder, Rape, Robbery & Abduction without a body.
On 4/28/84 Ms. Haraway disappears from her job. Tommy Ward
and his friend Karl Fontenot are arrested. THEY CONFESS and
make tapes of the confessions.
There is JUST ONE PROBLEM....THEY DID NOT DO IT. Both
are low class white trash and at first relish their time in the spot
light. But, soon they realize they are in REAL trouble.
NO Kings X...they can not take the confession back.
Today 2010 they are still in an Oklahoma prison.
Please read this book. It is very well written and a 5 star read.
After you finish then you must read JOHNS GRISHAMS-THE
INNOCENT MAN. DA Peterson tried to sue Grisham over the book
and lost in court.(2007)
Robert Mayer (b 1959) has written over 30 books. He is an author,
teacher and former green beret. I love the way he describes people,
places and things. He has a special way with words. They are his
friends. At no point do you get bored and start skipping ahead.
Book is 396 pages and weighs 2lbs. It was published in 1987.
Injustice in a small town in Oklahoma December 30, 2009 elainehh (Colorado, USA) If you have read Innocent Man by John Grisham, this book will also tweak your curiosity. This murder of a young woman happened in the same small town of Ada, Oklahoma, as did Grisham's book, and in the same two years. Police, looking for a scapegoat to appease the public, force a confession from two hapless young men who had nothing to do with the crime while the murderer goes free. If you can't believe these things happen, this will convince you. No evidence, no body, no facts in the confession, all trumped up to convict two young men. Injustice in America.
the dream of ada August 11, 2009 Anita M. Fuqua the dreams of ada is a very good book and it is a true story from a small town just an hours drive from my home town. I have relatives living in ada and we all followed the story as it was happening.

It took a while to receive the book but it was in great shape and you can't beat the price $0.1. This was also the only place that I could find this book. Thanks.
