ACSM's Resource Manual July 10, 2010 JPStudent As a resource manual for passing the ACSM's HFS Certification Exam it leaves a lot to be desired. For a 3rd edition it is painfully full of typo errors which include wrong answers for the review tests which makes you doubt your knowledge. In addition it only covers about 1/2 of what's on the exam. To be fair the authors do suggest that it not be the only resourse used to prepare for the test. I strongly suggest that you also purchase ACSM's Resource Manual for Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescription and use it as your main source.

Great Book! February 22, 2010 Douglas Jones (San Diego, CA USA) ACSM is one of the most reputable organizations for anything dealing with exercise. I am using this book for a class in college and it is perfect. There are great tables, figures, and flow-charts. The book covers everything from risk stratification and risk factors for CVD to different protocols for sub-maximal exercise tests. This book will prepare you for a client that comes to you for the first time having no idea how to start exercise. Once again, great book. Highly recommended.
Must have! Good stuff October 22, 2009 Greg Dixon (Dayton, TN United States) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This book is the primary resource for ACSM certification. The newest edition is much more user friendly than previous editions and has some important changes in guidelines and protocols. I was studying for ACSM HFS cert for about 3 months with the previous edition but was informed at a ACSM workshop that I would need to purchase this edition because of the changes in the info. I got this resource only several weeks before sitting for my certification. I PASSED!! I felt well prepared and scored well.
