A must have!!!!!!!!!! September 7, 2009 L. Hamann (Michigan, USA) I would recommend this math book to everyone! It is worth every penny. Also great for 5 year old to learn ahead.
Perfect! February 10, 2009 Guadalupe Navarro (México) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This workbook it's just that, absolutly perfect. I bought it so my 6 year old daughter -who was having some difficulties to grasp math concepts-, could have some extra practice. It work like a charm, it really made it easy and now she feels so secure about her math skills plus her grades have improve so much! We are delighted!
Not an appropriate main workbook for first grade January 18, 2009 Colleen Ferrara (Northern CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This workbook is not designed well. The book jumps from one concept to another and touches on subjects for only two pages before moving into an entirely different math concept.
The material is also too advanced for average first graders.
We used the kindergarten "Math Made Easy" and found it very easy to use. I assumed that this first grade workbook would follow it, but it doesn't. For example, addition and subtraction were introduced very minimally in the kindergarten workbook. Addition and subtraction in this first grade book starts with double digits! Children need to learn/memorize sums to 10 before they can advance to this. I have given up on this workbook mid year. Perhaps at the end of the homeschool year we will return to it.
I suggest the "Spectrum Math" series. It is very well organized, simple, and repetitive so children can learn math concepts.
Perhaps this book would be good as an end-of-the-year review, but if your kids need to learn "math facts" forget it.
Math Made Easy October 13, 2008 Math teacher 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is exactly what was needed for a reinforcement of school math activities. It is comprehensive and motivating. Well done.
Gold Star September 8, 2008 Sarah Johnson (New England) My nearly six year old homeschooled son loves math and loves gold star stickers..this comes with a whole page of them...so this book is a major hit. The only thing we do not like is that the slick pages make any erasing difficult. This book does move quickly from easy to challenging without extra pages to reinforce learning or for practicing difficult concepts. We will do our own extra practice and use math blocks as well.
