Highly Recommened! October 27, 2009 lngarrison (Washington, DC United States) I recommend this book for first time owners of small dogs or dogs in general. I have a 3 lb chihuahua and it has helped me socialize her (being "brave"), learn tricks such as sit, stay, lay down, stop her excessive barking, and being possessive of me. I always recommend this book whenever I go to the dog park. Great book!
Not very detailed September 30, 2009 rueck (USA) I have a 4 month old Papillon and I had VERY high hopes for this book. Unfortunately all the information in this book is very basic and will not necessarily work for every dog. The author did a poor job of expanding topics, especially housetraining...very poor. She teaches readers the "watch me" but my puppy has no interest in following treats, has no interest in sitting...holding the treat over the dog's nose has not worked once. I just wish this book had more information than it does and frankly I am very surprised it has received such high reviews.
Very helpful and fun to read. September 8, 2009 O. Cintron (PIttsburgh, Pa) I enjoy this book for it's ease in reading and for the wealth of information that it has given me and my pint size babe. I think that you shouldn't have to struggle to understand a hard-read as you learn how to care for your dogie and that the tricks and hints of taking care of your little one are very helpful.
Great book for us who have the "little ones." September 7, 2009 S. Spreng (MN) I have a 6 pound Morkie and was frustrated with the training books I had read as they are geared toward the bigger dogs. Our little ones need different options as they have more obstacles to over come. This book is great for their point of view.
Pint Sized Book; Tons of Information June 11, 2009 Kimaloo (High Point, NC USA) I purchased this book a few weeks ago when I adopted my new puppy, a Jack Russell Terrier - Chihuahua mix. I never owned a small dog before so I was intimidated about training and dealing with such a little animal. Deborah Wood's book has been a blessing and her explanations into small dog behavior are a real eye opener to what it's like to be so tiny in such a big world. The writing style of the book is entertaining and using her easy-to-understand techniques has made training a breeze. I've already taught my 2 month old pup to sit, lay down, come, and stay and we're already working on leash training! I highly recommend this book to guide a new dog owner through that difficult training period with their new furry friend.
