| Customer Reviews: A must-read book for all dog adopters! July 23, 2006 D. Smith (Bondsville, MA United States) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This is a GREAT little book for anyone who is contemplating adopting a dog, or anyone who has adopted a dog in the past. I raised my first dog from 7wks old, and when I adopted my second dog it was a whole different ballgame. Adopting an adult dog is not necessarily more work than raising a puppy, but it certainly is different. This book tells you all the basic things you need to know about what to do once you get your adopted dog home. It's got good advice about bonding with an adoptive adult dog, and how to socialize an adoptive adult dog which has a past that is unknown to you. This book should be read by all adopters and fosters.
For anyone needing to "civilize" their canine companion April 8, 2003 Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Your Outta Control Adopted Dog: How To Turn Your Crazy Companion Into A Delightful Dog by canine expert Eve Adamson is a solidly written and thoroughly "user friendly" guide presented especially for dog owners who are adjusting to the seemingly destructive behavior of a newly adopted pet. Beautiful color photographs, practical information, and step-by-step instructions for socializing an adopted dog, house training, preventing bad behavior such as biting, and much more fill the pages of this very highly recommended resource which will prove an invaluable asset for anyone needing to "civilize" their canine companion.
