5 out of 5 stars Has staying power.   August 3, 2009

I was given a copy of this book when I was 6 yrs old and my father had just passed away. It is something that has stayed with me through 22 yrs. It has impacted how I deal with death. I have given several copies to friends in their time of need- regardless of age. The ages that would best benefit from the book as school aged children and older.

Great way to explain death. I would recommend for school age children and even adults. The four year old I purchased this book for, it just went over his head. But a good book.

As a psychotherapist I use many books to help children with grief. Wasn't familiar with this one. Bought it for the grandchildren after my husband passed away. The adults loved it too. Two grandchildren and I were out at the pond feeding the Koi when a dragonfly came. Rebbecca, 6 years old, asked, "What's that grandma?". "A dragonfly.", I replied. "OH JUST LIKE THE BOOK - I HAVE TO GO TELL MOMMY!" and off she ran. She felt touched by her Papa. Another granddaughter wanted a dragonfly necklace to remember him by. The story has been very healing for us all. Highly recommend.

5 out of 5 stars Great even for adults!   April 5, 2009

I read this book years ago while working at a Christian book store and fell inlove with it. However, it did not have much meaning to me until after my father died. A friend gave it to me. When I read it again it helped me through that difficult time! Now, I purchse copies whenever someone loses a loved one. It is the best book for explaining death and helping you through the grieving process more than any card, letter, I have ever come across!!!
