Hesi Exam February 28, 2010 Martin Weichenrieder No matter how well you've done throughout the past 2 years, if you don't achieve an 850 on the HESI, you're not graduating. We were required to take the HESI exam after the PN program but it was only used as a prediction of how we would do on boards. But this year it's 850 or keep trying.
This book be itself is not enough to achieve a high enough score for more programs. Many of my classmates agree that its use may be money driven because the material is confusing and not in line with what the actual exam questions are based on. Please do what I did and simply purchased this HESI A2 Test Simulation Software for the Health Education Systems, Inc. Admission & Exit Exam, NCLEX-RN 4,000 HESI Questions CD-ROM, Windows Only and I just went through every single problem and was able to pass easily. You dont want to waste alot of time or even have to take the test 4 times like another classmate of mine did!!
At a time when we are short of nursing instructors, short of nursing school entrance positions, and short of nursing personnel in general, you would THINK that schools would do all they could to help someone succeed...not put every obstacle in front of them to trip them up
Passed the test the FIRST time! February 9, 2010 Kristy Marie Dwyer This is a perfect book for taking the HESI nursing school exit exam.. The companion CD is perfect because it looks just like the exit exam and features the excellent rationales.
I recommend to any nursing student studying for the NCLEX and definitely for the HESI.
Great service January 8, 2010 ccalimbas (Sugar Land, TX, US) Would have liked to get it in sooner, but very satisfied with the "used" condition - seems to be brand new. Received it within the time period that was stated.
similar to the NCLEX January 7, 2010 $ hungry The 500 questions on this CD are very similar to the NCLEX. Also, use Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment by Linda LaCharity as a third of the NCLEX is on priority and delegation. Also, use Saunders CD to refresh on fact based questions the questions are more wordy than the real NCLEX though, but Hesi is spot on style wise. HESI CD will not work on a MAC.
Just Ok as Quick Review December 8, 2009 Anne F. Turner 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We were required to buy this book our first semester, and my school takes the HESI for each course final. I average in the 900s to 1000s on my HESI scores, and while I found this book to be a good quickie review at the end of the semester, your best strategy is to use the comprehensive reviews w/ thousands of questions, such as the ones by Prentice Hall & Saunders. You can still break the questions down by subject matter, as you can do with this Hesi book, but you're going to get a whole lot more practice. Once you have a a basic understanding of the subject, do as many practice questions as possible, carefully reading the rationales on all of them - including the questions that you got right so that you understand WHY you got it right (it's not always right for the reason that you thought it was)!
Bottom line: this is ok for quick reviews, the practice tests on the CD are adequate, and it is a good supplement. But, if you are trying to limit the amount of books you have to buy, stick with a comprehensive review such as Saunders Saunders Comprehensive Review for the NCLEX-RN® Examination (Saunders Comprehensive Review for Nclex-Rn) or Prentice Hall Prentice Hall's Reviews & Rationales: Comprehensive NCLEX-RN(R) Review or Kaplan Kaplan NCLEX-RN Exam 2010 with CD-ROM: Strategies for the Registered Nursing Licensing Exam. If you can get these down, then Hesi, and the NCLEX, will be a walk in the park.
