excellent book loved it September 19, 2009 Carole Taapken (illinois) it was a very good book and i will be buying more of her work in the near future you can bet on that. she is so good and once you start reading it is so hard to put the book down.
No stars! September 12, 2009 Bonnie Harris (Post Falls, ID United States) This is nothing but christian preaching! I highly resent that the description of these books does not indicate that. Total waste of money!
Begin with book #1 of ROCK HARBOR SERIES, all 4 are great books July 8, 2009 Harold Wolf (Wells, IN United States) I strongly recommend that you begin the Rock Harbor Series with book one, followed by 2, then #3 "Into the Deep", and eventually #4. Is the series done? Hopefully not, it's that good. But it is definitely a saga of the life of Bree Nicholls and her search/rescue dog, Samson, and all the other individuals that make for the adventurous, mysterious, and suspenseful life that Bree lives.
Book 3, is again a murders mystery (notice the plural) as well as a stronger emphasis on the romantic. It helps to first read the earlier pair of books in the series to set up the story for the romances (notice the plural). This is not sappy romance, men. It's OK to read this series. There is much more murder-lawless-abduction suspense and mystery than the romance. Another positive to this and the entire series is the low-key Christian influence injected by the activity and dialogue of several of the main characters.
Book 3, "Into the Deep", is also strong on family relationship and activity. Family struggles? Yes. Family love? Yes. Realism in family relationships. But it's not all a "Norman Rockwell Thanksgiving table" scene. There is dysfunction too, like normal families. And with Colleen Coble doing the writing, some of the "FUN" in "Dysfunctional Families" comes at the price of attempted murder. Intensely more than your "normal" abuse, drug, or alcohol situation.
And plenty of dog activity for the dog lovers who have come to know of this Gal, Bree, and her famous Sampson. In the end, the dog lovers will think the book was written just for them (but I'll not be a spoiler and reveal the surprise--read it and see why.)
Book 3, "Into the Deep", and the entire Rock Harbor Series is highly recommended to mystery readers, romance readers, dog lovers, suspense fans, Christian fiction readers, and especially to those who like a saga that includes all of the above, all the time, perfectly woven together.
I've reviewed all 4 book. Read my reviews and then begin reading--with book ONE. Oops, I started with the last book, which was so good it made me buy the other 3. AGAIN, I'M RECOMMENDING YOU BEGIN WITH BOOK ONE and take them in order.
Colleen Coble is now a favorite author of mine. Check out her large selection of murder mystery Christian fiction, with a dash of romance.
Thanks Ms Coble for taking us to life on the shores of Lake Superior.
Into the Deep by Colleen Coble April 26, 2009 Phyl Lautenschlaeger (Otis, Or.) This book was purchased as a gift for my grandaughter and it arrived on time and in excellent condition. I have read the book myself and I would recommend it to all Christian readers. Thank you, Phyllis Lautenschlaeger
