Product Description Why thyroid hormones are often an ineffective approach to hypothyroidism, what the real culprit is, and why it won't show up on your blood test. Do you take thyroid hormones, yet still suffer from fatigue, weight gain, hair loss, depression, or other hypothyroid symptoms? Are your symptoms steadily worsening while your blood tests stay the same? Do your symptoms go untreated because your lab tests are normal? If so, join the millions of Americans who, despite normal test results, suffer low thyroid symptoms because they are misdiagnosed or poorly managed. As you'll learn, treating the thyroid is often ineffective, and can even make you worse. For most Americans, hypothyroidism is an immune disease, not a thyroid disease. And yet the standard of care for hypothyroidism, both in conventional and alternative medicine, is to treat the thyroid, when it is the immune system that must be the target. Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms When My Lab Tests Are Normal? will also teach you an additional six common patterns of low thyroid function (expanded to 22 in the last chapter), only one of which may be helped by thyroid hormones, if even then. Don't waste another day feeling lousy because you're trapped in outdated standards of health care. Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms When My Lab Tests Are Normal? harnesses cutting-edge scientific research for a safe, simple, and truly effective solution to low thyroid function.
Book Description
Why Do I Still Have Thyroid Symptoms? was written to address the true causes of hypothyroidism in this country and how to manage them. The vast majority of hypothyroid cases are being treated inappropriately or misdiagnosed by the standard health care model. Through my exhaustive research and clinical experience, Dr. Kharrazian has discovered what really causes hypothyroidism and how to manage it.

Good for Doctors - not so much for non-docs November 19, 2009 Alea Forrest This book was excellent for technical explanation of thyroid disease and auto immune disease. The issue is the the author uses the phrase "go see a licensed practitioner" constantly throughout the book. The purpose of purchasing a book like this to learn real tips and strategies for self-management or co-management of the disease. I did not find much that I as a non-doctor could put into practice. If you live near a natural practitioner then give them this book. If you are looking for self-help, look at another book. This book was definitely written toward the medical community despite its name. Its good as a supplemental text but do not purchase it thinking you will be able to make significant changes in your own self-treatment.
Excellent Book! November 16, 2009 D. Simper (Chicago, IL) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is a must read if you or anyone you know suffers from a thyroid condition...or even if you suspect you may be suffering from a thyroid condition. I am a physician and I recommend this book to not only patients but also fellow colleagues. I have read it and I think it's an excellent and in depth overview of thyroid problems. It's easy to read and easy to understand. More importantly, it gives the reader some answers. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE read this and discover how you really can get help!
Almost too much information November 9, 2009 S. Hazlett (Denver, CO USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a great book but there is so much technical information that I found myself skimming more than reading. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease and the information in the book has helped me to make some changes in diet, exercise and supplements. I think what I realized most is how damaging stress is to the body. I was under such monstrous stress at my last job and that is when everything in my body started to have 'issues'. Hopefully with a great job and better outlook on life I can fix the damage that I caused and start to feel better. Mind over matter or something like that...
A new standard of excellence. November 4, 2009 Jonathan Miller (Sausalito, CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am a chiropractic physician who treats patients with thyroid conditions. Dr. Kharrazian's book is enjoyable for the general lay reader. It also introduces clinicians who have been limited by the conventional or alternative models to the evidence-based, functional medicine approach to thyroid disorders. Sound and reliable, it is supported by no less than 418 citations from the scientific and medical literature. It is, quite simply, the new standard of care for case management of the most common thyroid conditions.
Enlightening and Comprehensive November 4, 2009 Bevorly F. Cain-berk (San Jose, CA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is an excellent book. Everyone in the health profession should as a start be required to read this book. One will gain a great appreciation for complexity and sophistication of the human body as it relates to the thyroid gland and the inter-relatedness of all system to the others. These concepts are presented clearly and are based on scientic facts. The book is fascinating and easy to read. The information presented is functional and can be applied right away in my practice to support people in their pursuit of health.
I am ever so grateful to Dr. Kharrazian for his interest and willingness to find ways to assist humanity to obtain a state of optimal health.
Thank You,
Bevorly
