Product Description
Hope . . . From the Heart of Horses explores and celebrates the relationship and bond possible between horses and humans. Each chapter offers a life lesson about trusting one’s instincts, honestly addressing emotions, achieving clarity in communications, and re-leasing negative thoughts.

Because survival depends on being highly tuned to the thoughts and feelings of others, horses sense human intentions rather than what a person offers in facial expressions, which creates a remarkable effect on the relationship between these two distinctly different species. Among the moving stories the author relates are a horse named Hope who teaches the difference be-tween hope and faith; an abused horse’s background bringing up old memories and helping the author to move on; a young Olympic equestrienne hopeful who dis-covers and reaffirms her self-esteem; and a corporate training session in which one participant achieves great success merely by being honest about her fears.

As you see how these people grow deeper into them-selves as they learn the horse’s way, you, too, will be inspired to explore and apply the deep and ever-lasting connection and communication between horses and humans.

5 out of 5 stars A very inspiring book full of horse wisdom and life lessons for everyone, not just horse-lovers   July 22, 2009

This book tells the story of Kathy Pike, a very experienced life coach who has developed into a leader in the field of Equine Facilitated Learning.
The book describes how she, after a traumatic experience - falling of a horse and being dragged along by the stirrup, after years of no contact with horses at all comes back into contact with them, but now in an entirely different way. She tells about her life and the life lessons had through contact with the horses. Her style I find interesting and it makes the reader get more insight into how very instructive and healing it is to be in contact with horses and to have a deeper relationship with them.

It contains a lot of horse wisdom and life lessons that very many people, not just horse people or people who are fond of horses, will be inspired by and get motivated to, especially in this 'new' time, get into deep contact with his/her authentic self and to live the life that they really want.
Highly recommended for people who are walking the path of personal and spiritual growth, and want to live in the here and now, want to connect to this deep spiritual level and know that it is good to stay connected to the reality, to what IS.

Personally I find her writingstyle very clear. I enjoyed her very open and personal stories, they reveal much about herself, which puts her in a vulnerable position, but because of that she is fully empowered.
I now know Kathy personally and I can say for sure, the way she comes across in the book, she is the same in real life, so what you see is what you get. Nothing more, nothing less and I love that!

Kathy tells us the story of her path with horses and how horses invited themselves into her coaching activity. She speaks so true and so humble that you understand that although what she says of horses as healers is totally amazing, this is not something that happens only to special people, but is also possible for anyone.
Read it, use her approaches so you too can experience it in your life.

Kathy Pike's work with humans and horses honors both species and shows how
we can assist one another in the life journey. I enjoyed reading Pike's stories of specific horses and incidents encountered in both her own life and in her work with Equine Experiential Learning. Here is a quote from the book that expresses its teachings:
" The horse is not here for us to control, manipulate, or dominate. Rather the horse is here to teach us about power, authenticity, and how to connect and experience the world as separate beings. With completely different approaches to life, we can come together, communicate, and partner at levels unlike any other interspecies relationship."

4 out of 5 stars A must for all!   July 1, 2009

I love the work that Kathy is doing in personal growth and development using horses. This book helped me to understand more about the field, to explore these ideas in my own life and gave me plenty of food for thought. Real soul food!
