Product Description
From the author of Don't Shoot the Dog!, this book & two SitStay clickers are a must have for those learning clicker training. Clicker training is not about the clicker or about the food. It is about the reinforcement presented with correct timing in such a way that information is communicated between trainer & pet. Together you and the dog will learn a new way of interacting. We have used this method with one of our dogs to rapidly teach her how to ring a bell and to touch anything we ask her to touch. This newest version includes photographs that illustrate the training exercises. Contents: Clicker Training for Dogs (book), two SitStay clickers (Copyright 2005, Paperback, 100 pages, 5 1/4 inches x 8 1/4 inches)

5 out of 5 stars It seems to work great.   September 30, 2009

I'm new to clicker training but with the help of Karen's book, my dog seems to be responding to it. In fact today she got off her run and if it weren't for the clicker training, I would have had difficulty getting her back. I am looking forward to working my dog more with it.

This is a good book if you don't want a lot of detail, but are looking for a step by step training guide for a few basic commands. A good book for first time dog owners, but the more experienced dog owner would probably get more out of Karen Pryor's other book, "Reaching the Animal Mind"

The book is very readable, easy to follow, and illustrated with photos. Anyone can use it. I have now clicker trained my cats to climb up their new cat tree (which they were afraid to go near just a few weeks ago). The best thing about it is that it makes training fun for both the animal and the trainer - there is no coercion and no punishment involved, just rewards, so the animal is an active and eager partner to the training.

3 out of 5 stars I learnt a thing or two...   February 8, 2009

An encouraging read for somebody keen to pursue this kind of training, but nothing very earth shattering in terms of the information contained within. A short book, more like an expanded info-leaflet, but a handy aid if you can pick it up cheaply.

3 out of 5 stars Great for introduction   June 10, 2008

This book is very, very basic. If you've never heard or read anything about clicker training, it gives you a good overview of what it's about ad how to do it. The author explains how to shape basic behaviors and gives ideas for what you can shape your dogs to perform other behaviors.

If you've done any training with your dog, especially any clicker training, skip this book. It's too basic for you.
