Customer Reviews: Very useful for driving Japan January 15, 2009 A. Bleidorn (Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I agree with the previous reviewer that this is a 5 star atlas. I also thought I would add that the maps include accurate information on how much the toll roads cost - useful both for planning the trip and knowing how much to hand the guy in the booth! This is great for road trips - haven't been too lost yet!
Superb road atlas, in English. February 12, 2008 Russell Guy (Burlington, NC) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This superb road atlas of Japan uses topographic maps as the base maps and overprints road and tourist information. The topographic (elevation) information, the very detailed the detailed road network, and the larger scale make this atlas more useful than competing products. The atlas contains topographic/road maps for all of Japan at 1:250,000, except for Hokkaido, which is at 1:600,000. There are city street maps for Fukuoka/Hiroshima, Osaka/Kobe, Nara/Kyoto/Nagoya, Yokohama/Kawasaki/Tokyo, and Sapporo. There are sightseeing maps for a variety of regions as well. The roads show distances between road junctions. There are little "balloon" blow-ups of road intersections or highway interchanges - a very nice touch. See the sample images for an example of this. There is also an 11-page index. In English with most names also in Japanese. Size is 26 x 19 cm
