5 out of 5 stars Solid, Respected Resource Text for Tracking   May 26, 2009

I would always recommend that any handler review a variety of books/techniques when enbarking on any training endeavor that is new to them. It pays to pick out the parts that resonate for you, listen for an author's personal biases, and weigh it all together, objectively. But be assured, this is a solid, reputable volume that belongs in every tracking handler's library.

This is by far the best book I have found yet on training a tracking dog. It gives enough information so you acctually learn what you are doing instead of just following their outlined plans.

For those of you looking to train a serious working dog, this is the book for you.

I have a police service K-9 and utilized the training found here to help my dog (German Shepherd).

But not all dogs can do this so, the selection tests at the begining of the book were a great help.
