Help with my SARD's PatientApril 10, 2009 Read-a(Waskom, TX) This book is very helpful about how to deal with special needs dogs and understanding how they got that way. I have a SARD's dog and am working with the author on a protocol to treat him now. She is so incredibly helpful. She has talked to my vet for me and emailed me so much material about what I can do for him. I also bought Living With Your Blind Dog. Both are very informative in their own way.
Good book, well written, focus on most common serious diseases in dogsMarch 1, 2009 John Smith(Seattle) Our 10 year old miniature poodle was recently diagnosed with diabetes and Cushing's disease. Although there is a lot of information on the web, we ordered this book to keep handy. It's a good, well written book about diet, and the most common serious diseases in dogs, including the two our poodle has. We found it very useful and not too expensive.
Not impressedAugust 16, 2008 Lisa(Arlington Heights, IL United States) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Rather small and outdated for the price. The majority of the information in the book is nothing that you wouldn't find yourself just by searching on the Internet- for free. Sort of a disappointment really. I was so looking forward to receiving this book and then changing our dogs' diets but the diet plan in here is extremely vague. Look elsewhere for info if your dog has Cushings or SARDS.
Bought the book for my DadMay 8, 2008 carr(Chicago, IL USA) I bought the book for my dad whose favorite dog was recently diagnosed with diabetes. It didn't sound like his Vet had given him much information beyond the most basic information (give the dog a shot at this time every day). My dad says the book answers many of his questions and provides him with the information he needs to understand the condition and properly care for his dog.
