5 out of 5 stars An Essential Book for a Central Dog Training Challenge   March 26, 2001

I bought this book by chance. I saw it on a rack, while waiting to pay for dog food at a pet store. It seemed pretty good. Well, after reading and applying the advice, I feel so lucky! This is a GREAT book! and well worth buying BEFORE you get your new dog home. It tells you things other books frequently overlook and prepares you for whats to come, so there aren't problems when Rover arrives home: for eg, how to prepare the best space, what essential things you'll need, how the dog is likely to respond, from the earliest age, and what you need to do. The advice is intelligent, and effective. I've had great success and will definitely buy more books by this author. Thank you September!

At last, a book on punishment-free, gentle housetraining! This book will show you how to live through potty-training your dog and still have a great relationship with him/her when you're done. Very compassionate. Lots of common sense. Great book. As a dog trainer, I recommend it to all my puppy class students.
