Product Description
The world of veterinary medicine is changing. People are realizing that if alternative medicine is better for them, it's better for their pets, too. Dogs are visiting acupuncturists, chiropractic doctors, and homeopaths. Still, many dog owners are unaware that such simple measures as changing their pet's diet and using vitamins, herbs, and other natural cures can help prevent or heal ailments ranging from excessive scratching to depression to a host of serious diseases.

The Veterinarians' Guide to Natural Remedies for Dogs is both an introduction and a guide to the vast world of natural healing methods, treatments, and foods now available for dogs. Author Martin Zucker offers advice from dozens of holistic practitioners and licensed veterinarians, who share their recipes, insights, and "prescriptions." Here dog owners will find information on everything from nutritional supplements to massage therapy, as well as how these treatments can be used alone or in conjunction with traditional medications and surgical techniques.

5 out of 5 stars Natural Remedies for Dogs   October 7, 2009
Doc' Abbie (Miami, NM USA)
There are many alternatives to choose from for any given problem, so that anyone can find something to help their dogs.
I especially like the section on diet, and have started cooking again for not only my own dogs but the dogs in our dog rescue. They all love it, and I can already see a big difference.

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous!   April 26, 2009
Sarah Hansen (Iowa City, IA)
This book has made a major impact on my 13 year old dogs health! She has no more eye problems, and has even started jumping around again when she plays! Thank you so much!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference Guide   March 13, 2009
Nicole Wilde (California)
I have had this book for a few years now and have found myself referring to it time and again. It is well laid out so that you can easily find the recommended holistic remedy for what is ailing your dog. Although western veterinary medicine is certainly valuable, the more we can use holistic healing and steer away from medications with possible side effects, the better off our dogs will be.

5 out of 5 stars My #1 All Time Favorite Doggie Reference Book   February 20, 2009
Florence Gans (Raleigh, NC USA)
Being an avid animal lover, I have about 25 animal care books on my shelf. This is my NUMBER ONE all time favorite book for dog care. Martin Zucker has compiled recommendations from over 30 veterinarians on how these vets holistically treat things like arthritis, bad breath, cancer, dental health, diabetes, digestive disorders, eye problems, kidney failure, obesity, skin disorders and much much more! I highly recommend this book to all my clients.

5 out of 5 stars Great Purchase!   February 8, 2009
Shalla DeGuzman (Bamberg, Germany)
We bought this for us to read over before going to a homeopathic veterinarian for the first time.

Well, this costs $10, it gave us the same information, the same suggestions on healing our dogs, except the vet costs $500.

If you're dog isn't too well these days, you may also like to try Holistic Aromatherapy for Animals: A Comprehensive Guide to the Use of Essential Oils & Hydrosols with Animals, aromatheraphy helps my pets, oils such as eucalyptus help increase the dog's immune system to fight the disease (just use a drop and dilute it with oil such as almond oil). This book will give you recipes. Hands-On Healing for Pets: The Animal Lover's Essential Guide to Using Healing Energy, The Healing Touch for Dogs: The Proven Massage Program for Dogs, Revised Edition and The Magnetic Effect. (magnets are helping our dog walk with a lot more fluidity. he's 15, but we walk about 2 hours per day (he likes it) and now, he does it more easily with ease.
