Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
This book provides in-depth information about common clinical laboratory assays that are used to evaluate domestic mammals, including what assays measure, sample or assay conditions that affect results, and what results indicate about the physiologic or pathologic state of a patient. Whenever possible, diseases and conditions are grouped by common mechanisms or processes to promote a conceptual understanding of laboratory data that can be generally applied across many species.

New to the second edition are additional disorders, diagnostic tests, illustrations, images, references, and pathophysiologic explanations. This text has proven valuable to students and veterinarians wanting a fundamental understanding of veterinary clinical pathology.

This book is amazing for most things in clinical chemistry. I have been completely happy with it.

College-level libraries strong in veterinary references at the advanced level will appreciate the second updated edition of Fundamentals of Veterinary Clinical Pathology. It provides in-depth details about common clinical laboratory assays used to evaluate domestic animals and this edition adds additional disorders, diagnostics, images, references and more, covering abnormal lab data, revising color plates to include microscopic images, adding new chapters with accompanying websites, and rounding out the reference's information and impact.

This should be on every practitioner's shelf. It is effective for both quick, thorough reference and for technical explanation - vet students, buy this book. I wish more books struck such a readable balance.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding Book and Author   June 5, 2007
Melissa James, DVM (Ohio)
I was lucky enough to take Clinical Pathology in Vet School from Dr. Stockham himself. He is/was an outstanding professor, and the book has proven to be invaluable. I still use it in clinical practice when I get that "stump you" bloodwork, and even just to be clear about how things are working together. The book is an excellent reference for both students (it really explains things very well) and for those in practice (the tables are excellent).
I cannot praise it enough.
Melissa James DVM.

5 out of 5 stars I highly recommend this book...   May 14, 2007

This is a great book about vet clinical pathology so long as you're not looking for a basic summary/Cliff's notes kind of book about clinical pathology. This book goes more in depth than that but less than a very technical, bore-you-to-sleep text.
