Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Veterinary emergency and critical care medicine is one of the fastest-growing fields in veterinary medicine today. While there are many books out on the subject there has been no image-based manual for common emergency procedures aimed at the general practitioner as well as emergency specialist. This text provides step-by-step instructions for a variety of common procedures with photographs illustrating each step in the procedure. This is the ideal guide for veterinarians providing emergency and critical care.

Contents

*Nutritional Support
*Thoracocentesis and Thoracostomy Tube Placement
*Oxygen Supplementation

Customer Reviews:
2 out of 5 stars review from a busy small animal practitioner   April 3, 2008

Subjects covered are interesting and usefull.
However, images being in black and white, plus the fact that photos taken sometimes are too close ups, are difficult to give a clear picture of the procedures, even for an experienced veterinarian.
The book is dealing with emergency cases so any misunderstandings can lead to unpleasant outcomes.

3 out of 5 stars kindle edition disappointing   April 1, 2008

The print edition is probably more usefull than the Kindle edition. This book's usefullness relies on it's photos that illustrate the techniques. I got this hoping to use it as a teaching tool for my staff, but the pictures just don't come out well on the Kindle (don't get me wrong - I LOVE MY KINDLE) but this book is best used in print.

5 out of 5 stars A 'must have' reference for any serious veterinary medicine collection.   October 15, 2006

Timothy B. Hackett and Elisa M. Mazzaferro's VETERINARY EMERGENCY & CRITICAL CARE PROCEDURES will also appeal to this specialized audience of veterinary medicine students, holding details for general practitioners and specialists as it breaks down key emergency and critical care procedures. Hundreds of black and white photos throughout illustrate the written word, which comes from two leading emergency and critical care specialists who have much clinical experience behind their words. A 'must have' reference for any serious veterinary medicine collection.
