Product Description
In Praise of  The Complete Book of Foaling

"A must read for anybody who has ever thought about breeding a mare." —Judith Forbis, Ansata Arabian Stud

"Brilliantly written—reads like a novel, yet beautifully organized so that you can flip to a section at a moment's notice if your mare is in trouble." —Equus

"This book should be included in every foaling kit. In fact, it should never sit on the bookshelf in the house—keep it in the barn where you can always get to it in a hurry!" —Modern Horse Breeding

"Right away the illustrations set this book apart from any other in its class. Dr. Hayes's ability to teach is the other distinction—she has a knack for explaining things in such a way that you understand and remember, and the learning process is fun. I couldn't put the book down until I had read it cover to cover." —Walter Schimanski, Masada Arabians

5 out of 5 stars Foaling Bible   January 15, 2009
Debra A. Tilton (Fernvale NSW Australia)
This book saved my life when it came to foaling time !! I had 3 last year and two of them were "text" book deliveries, the last being a maiden mare was a little more difficult but this book helped me survive the experience with a positive result. A must read for any new breeder.

5 out of 5 stars good book   November 19, 2008

this is a really handy book to have when breeding, or just a good read

4 out of 5 stars horse foaling help   June 13, 2008
Renee S. Rushing (Florida)
Was expecting my first 2 foals this year and needed help to know what to
expect and do. Very imformative though I never got to use any of it as both my mares delivered quietly and safely on their own. I missed it! :-(

5 out of 5 stars This book saved my foal's life   May 6, 2008
F. J. Everhart (Virginia mountains)
I have been meaning to write this review for a year. Last year my foal did not get enough oxygen and could not suck. This book explained *exactly* what this was and how to deal with it. It was only on a couple of pages, but it was precisely what I needed to know. My foal could have died due to my ignorance, and as far as I am concerned, this booked saved his life. Today he is a big beautiful yearling and his new owner adores him.

Now I recommend this book to everyone on my horse list. The least I can do is write a good review for the author.

3 out of 5 stars If this is your first foaling experience...   March 20, 2008

This was our first foal and after reading this book we expected the worst. Fortunately, we put to use some things we learned from the book and we have a beautiful new addition to our farm. However, reading about everything that could go wrong did not accentuate the positive. The illustrations are in black and white and there are not enough of them and they are often not clear enough.
